--If this is in the wrong place, please move it--
According to the TRMA (Titanic Research and Modelling Association) in the "Deck Chairs and Benches" section in their guide to coloring a model of the ship (link:http://titanic-model.com/articles/paints/WEBPAGE_Paint%20Reference%20Main%20Page/WEBPAGE_Paint%20Reference%20Main%20Page.htm#deck%20chairs (http://titanic-model.com/articles/paints/WEBPAGE_Paint%20Reference%20Main%20Page/WEBPAGE_Paint%20Reference%20Main%20Page.htm#deck%20chairs), the benches may not have been grey.
The wooden benches had varnished slats of Teak wood, with side and center supports and armrests that were cast bronze. The bronze supports and armrests appear in photographs as approximately the same color as the wood, and may not have been black as often assumed. (See the bench at far right, from a photo of Olympic's Poop Deck.) There is also no forensic wreck evidence of the benches having been painted. Whether the cast bronze was painted or appeared naturally dark is not known for certain, but either way the bronze sections appear the same color as the wood and both sections can painted the same color.
What do you guys think?
-
I think I don't really have an opionion on that.. they're just benches.. and they've long since been ruined anyway.. ;D
Moved it to small talk, since it's not really related directly to the game.

Fred

Huh?

Hmm, I think his post was rather self explainatory, so did you really have to bump an over a month old thread just to say "huh?"?
::)

I didn't get this. ???

Well, normally you wouldn't dig up old topics without something to add to it. Just saying huh? is hardly productive, that's what I meant.
The quote and link in Gigantic's post should be clear enough as far as his point goes, I reckon.

Just to add to Mad_Fred's excellent words, can I just point out that making pointless posts like the above is strictly against Forum rules?

Ignorance is no excuse.

My point was if this is true, the model of Titanic in-game would need to be changed. I was asking if you guys think this is true.
-
Well I still don't really care. It's just a bench.
They probably picked out the paint according to what they had in stock at the moment. No big deal, it's not Titanic's perfect model simulator, it's Ship Simulator. Some other vessels ingame are not 100% accurate either. There's no way everything can be perfect in a game. Who cares anyway..Only people with obsessions. And since they are not the main group of customers, I reckon time will not be spent on such trivial things, unless all important work was done. ;D

By now wouldn't the wood be... well, gone?
If they make it truly realistic, Titanic is going to look pretty tatty by now, I would think. Rust and mud would be a recurring theme.
In any case, see the words "may not"...

Is it not the goal of Vstep to get these ships as accurate as possible?
And did I mention Titanic's modeller, Jason De Donno, is a member of the Titanic Research & Modelling Association (TRMA) forums? On top of that, he is getting research help from 3 of the 4 authors of "Titanic: The Ship Magnificent", 2 of which are TRMA trustees, one of them also being the maker of Titanic's general arrangement plans! The credits for Ship Simulator 2008 also credit the TRMA. Can you not expect adjustments to the smaller things when the guy modelling as well as the guys helping him research are all "obsessed"?

Where did they say that? Can you point me to the statement? I can't recall seeing it, but I could easily have missed it.
Thanks.

I don't know. Did you? ;) (I'm teasing!)
For clarity, in one post you say that the colour of the benches made by Jason De Donno may be wrong, then in another post you hold him up as an authority. Make your mind up. Is he or isn't he? In any case, this is a waste of time about something that no one is actually disputing. Your own post said "may be wrong". Well, Fred may be a millionaire. That statement doesn't prove that he is.
I intimated that for realism, you should have sunken, rotting hulk on the sea bed. Now that would be realistic. Any representation that is anything except sunken is a fantasy. As such, the benches can be any colour that the creator wants to imagine them to be. Who are you or anyone else to say that they're wrong?
-
Well, found this in unread ^^ Well, I dont think they would beblack anywayse, that wood, teak color does look like it would be the color.

I dont know. There are always going to be new ideas and Problems with Jason's model. I look at it as an accident waiting to happen ;D

Your point is silly. Where do you get the idea that the model has to be changed? Even if they were proven to have been pink with maroon stripes they would not be changed because it is simply not worth the trouble.
In the quote in your first post, I saw the word “mayâ€. If your authorities are not even sure, it would be idiotic to expect VSTEP to react to speculation by going to the considerable trouble involved in catering to your whim.

Which means there is no need to change it, as it is uncertain. I just found this and was interested in it, and decided to show it here.

Sorry to sound rude, but does anyone actually care about such a silly little detail? Shall i start a topic titled "The Sherpas paint colour may be the wrong shade......

Go for it! Ship Simulator is better than Virtual Sailor (in my opinion) because Vstep's models are of a better quality and accuracy. If we didn't have that, THEN where would we be, huh? Virtual Sailor would go nearly unopposed!

Ya. VS wants our models. I know that for a fact. I saw on a forum they wanted to convert PoR to VS. I can find a link if you like. EDIT:OUR PoR model.

So besides the models you didn't notice anything else about VS that makes it inferior to SS08? Hmm.. strange. ;D

Hmm...Graphics...and like. Almost everything. The only reason i would ever buy VS is so i could shoot the hell out of QM2 and laugh.
