Now that the Knock Nevis (Ex Seawise Giant, Jahre Viking....) supertanker (largest in the world) is out of service and being used as a FSO, does anyone know if she can move under her own power still?
-
What does FSO mean?
-
Floating Storage and Offloading unit, basically a ship re equipped as a giant warehouse ;)
-
Is there any picture of it as a FSO?
-
Yes:

It was given a fresh paint of coat and some anti-rust medication - it needed it badly ;D
-
It would be fun to have that as a static object

It doesn't look particularly different because it is used for the storage of crude oil which is what is was origanally built for. ;)
-
Back to my question - can she still move under her own power as an FSO?
-
I don't believe so, but it might. :-\
I can't imagine them going through the trouble of taking out the engines. ;)
-
That would be one heck of a container ship. :D
-
Does some one has specs, length, width, draft, location.
-
Yep:
Tonnage: 260,941 GT
214,793 NT
Length: 458.45 m (1,504.10 ft)
Beam: 68.8 m (225.72 ft)
Draft: 29.8 m (97.77 ft)
Capacity: 564,650 DWT
Currently moored in the Persian Gulf. Largest ship ever built.
PoR is less than 1/2 the length and width.
