Hi everyone. On the 25th of September i am going back to the UK on the Pride of Rotterdam/Hull once again. The return journey will be on the 6th October. Picking up new car.
Since i have already got all the photos i want, this topic will be open for you to request pictures of/around the ship. When the pics have been taken i will upload and PM them to you personally for you to keep as your own ;D
Any requests?

Is it your picture?
No, it's fromm the P&O website ;)

Hi Nathan,
please do you have a link on the P&O website where you find this pictures ?
The only photo I found on poferries.com or pofreight.com were only pictures from the bars or the cabins, which don't interest me at all :)
and your post on imageshack is too small, I'd like to see bigger images of that bridge !
Thanks,
Denis

Hi Denis. Here you can take a 360 degree Virtual tour around most of the P&O Ships:
http://agents.poferries.com/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/VR_TOURS/VR_FILES/EN/INDEX.HTML
You select the route and location and you can look around the ship ;)

Thanks Nathan :-)

wow man. good luck. then you need make a video on the bridge and share it ;D

Considering what is on P&O's own website, I feel that I can post the following. On the first picture, I am stood just infront of the console, so have about 7ft of bridge behind me. Shows the size of the bridge. Photos are of the Pride of Hull.

I am currently working on a feature for my website showing some of the photos taken from the bridges of the Pride of York and Pride of Bruges. The old North Sea Ferries ships that were built for the Rotterdam route. The pictures are of the ship passing through the narrow lock.

Nice pictures - i am eagerly awaiting a reply from P&O to see if my bridge visit request has been accepted. I have sent my booking reference to the head office, and they are talking to the captain about it - we will wait and see!
-
we should hope the captain is a very kindfull. not a angry and grumpy person ;D
-
I hope so ;D
Tugboat: "Do you require tug assistance sir?
Captain of PoR: "NO! CAN YOU READ?! LOOK AT THE "NO TUG" SYMBOLS DOWN MY SIDE! ARE YOU BLIND> STAY AWAY FROM MY SHIP!"
;D
By the way, the Pride of Hull is the ship on the night i am sailing, so thats the one i may see the bridge of.

-
Yes, the only difference is name (and amount of Rust ;D) so they are identical interior. I will be sending the bridge pics to VSTEP if it happens, then they may improve it.
-
yes that would be a very nice to send picture to Vstep to improve it. need to grap good photos then ;D on instruments :D

All the Captains & Bridge Crews that I have met have been friendly. If it is Captain Peter Holt (I think it was) on the Pride of Hull, he is a very down to earth guy, who I had the pleasure of meeting in January this year.
He was part of the design team for the two ships. I found this out after I asked him how long he had served onboard the POH, and he replied three days!! This was stood on the bridge in Rotterdam, so that was only his second departure from Rotterdam!!!.
Apart from minor details, the bridges are identical. They are the largest bridges that I have been on infact and have been on all the DFDS and P&O bridges, with the old Pride of York and Pride of Bruges being amongst the smallest.

That sounds promising, i hope i get to meet him and ask how he got to that position.

Hi Everyone ;D
Just got a email from P&O and my bridge visit has been accepted ;D
On the 25th September (Pride of Hull) ;D
-
Congratulations Nathan.
I know you will seriously enjoy it, and I hope they let you stay up for departure.
Did they say who the Captain would be?
Cheers
Paul
-
Thanks Ferryenthusiast, i am looking forward to it very much.
They did not say which captain it would be, they mentioned no names, but they are sending another email giving instructions for the night, where to be and when etc so maybe they will mention then. I'm hoping it will be this Peter chap you mentioned earlier.
(They did say i would be escorted by a deck officer however)

Nice. I have only been on one bridge, the "Norwegian Star" the captain kept coming to my room and saying hi because he thought I was "cool" since I wore my suit like 24/7 and then on the last day he invited me to the bridge. :P
-
hello Nathan C, i would appreciate it if you could pm me a picture of each console in the bridge of the POH, i am thinking of modeling my own version of the PORs bridge,
Thanks!

I've got a question in that case. 30cm's on either side, is the lock by chance 'tiled' with fenders, or rubber or something?

Have a great time Nathan! :)
-
Thanks SA, i'm sure i will!
Tell the Captain i said Hi. Please dont forget to. Tell me what he says back to me. Tell him to gove me a message.
-
By the way Nathan, that music for your video is ready! (This is related to his trip)
-
I'm sure he's busy enough managing a 59,925 GRT super ferry without having to pass on little messages to forum members.
How do i even know the captain will be on the bridge at the time?
Pretty Please?! And tell it to whoever is at the wheel. Im sure he can tell me at least hi. Maybe i can have his phone number. Joking, Joking.
