Title: HOW do i download a patch?

im about to get the  ship simulator 2008, so before i get can any1 please tell me how to download a patch so i will be ready when i get the simulator? ty

Hello jerome534, and welcome to the forum!

Just go to the download page (http://www.shipsim.com/downloads/patches.php) and grab the one(s) you need.

It does not matter which server you pick for a certain patch, those are just mirrors.

i know,thanks, but how to i put the patch into the game? all it says when i press download is save or rune, when i press save i dont know where to put it?

Hi Jerome,
It doesn’t matter where you put it as long as you can find it to run it when you get the sim installed.

save it to your desktop and run the installer. It will then extract all nessecary files into the correct folder.

so after i download all addons i need to desktop and a run the installer for shipsim08 it will extract all the addons into the shipsim folder?

Yes, once you have downloaded the patch or patches, you just run them, and they update the game automatically.

Mind you, these are patches, not addons. Although there are two new ships included in 1.1 and higher. (So you just need to install one, preferable the 1.0 to 1.4.2 patch)

You do have to have the game installed first, of course.
So for now you can also (if you still haven't got the game) just download them and put them somewhere, anywhere on your computer that you may prefer, untill you need them.

on vista it sasys open and save so open is the sane as run right?

Yes vista gives open instead of run on .exe, so "open" it :P

And you probably have corrupt installers, what happens if the install fails, you have to download it AGAIN.
