Signed it, it would be great with a new Titanic ;D

I can GUARANTEE that H&W will build a replacement Titanic for you. IF you can do one thing in return for them...
Get someone to pay for the damned thing.
You are looking at maybe 150,000,000 quid or there abouts

Let's build Rome a 2nd time folks...? :P
I rather believe that the Americans can take a new Moon voyage with a new highly sophisticated Eagle II within the next years than that Titanic is getting re-constructed (my view of it) :P

There was a lot of talk about replica titanic after that highly questionable film by the same name. (runs to hide fom djm!)
The problems are A)Would the novelty last long enough to recoup the outlay? B)Once you have built it to modern tastes and safety requirements- would it still be a replica titanic?
The grand staircase or those enormous 'malls' that they build now? Sorry to spoil your hopes, but it just isn't going to happen I'm afraid.

I agree.
Plus, they havn't started the first sentence with a capital letter :P

Hi all,
I'm going to break a dream here but I think there is almost no chance that a identical titanic will be built.
Firstly she wouldn't comply with any of the IMO construction rules and SOLAS regulations. That means even if she was built, she couldn't sail.
The second point which is a consequence of the first one, what would be the interest for someone today to build a ship he can't operate except maybe as a static museum?
Oups I hadn't read Stuart's post before writting these lines.
So I'm on his side, if they build Titanic according to safety rules, she won't seem at all like the first one.

I don't care if it isn't the biggest ship in the world anymore. The idea of seeing the most famous ship in history sail again is... is... I can't even describe it! I am obsessed with it, and to see her again....
As for protocol, they can do what Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line plans on doing: hiding it from view or disguising it!

...until 2012 :P
That reminds me of a thought: If they want the replica built in Belfast, they may need to build it on Olympic's slipway, seeing as how Titanic's will be taken up by a life-sized light sculpture of the ship as a part of the Titanic Quarter, which is supposed to be done by the sinking's 100th aniversary: April 15, 2012.
