clip from the movie Britannic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJrxk5YHYAQ
-
That movie is 90% fictional.
The engines were stopped after only the first 2 life boats were cut up, and just in time to save the third
Also, only the port propeller was running. Not only does the movie show all three propellers turning, but it shows the last life boat being cut up by the starboard propeller...
There's plenty more errors. If you want, I can tell you them
-
Jesus, that film looks really unrealistic, the water and sky in the background look CGI too :-\

gotta love the rofl commentary!
-
are you serious!?!? he's ******* disrespecting all those who died. that movie is like Titanic, made in memory of those who died. and he ruined the movie. another thing i hate.
Edited to remove the obvious word, DJM.
-
on my opoin the move wasnt that bad it was very unrelistic but the actuall happening was all so fast and quick and not much happened so they did have to change alot of things and add stuff to make it more entertaining

Those movies do something to the disater that I like to call "emo-izing". They're so intent on capturing the public eye, that they screw everything up!
For instance, in Titanic, Jack and Rose watch dolphins off the prow:
NO PASSENGER WAS ALLOWED BEYOND THE FORECASTLE'S BREAKWATERS!
AND WHY ARE THERE DOLPHINS?! HOW CAN DOLPHINS SURVIVE IN A SALT WATER OCEAN? LET ALONE IN NORTHERN LATITUDES!
-
Gigantic, dolphins survive in that ocean. i've seen them for real. you didn't know that?

really?
oh, well. the movie shows the couple in the cargo area, you know, the car seen. WHITE STAR MADE SURE THAT THERE WERE NO PARTIES BELOW DECKS!
-
its a movie. they just want to make it entertaining. but the dolphins were real.
-
how did the 2 even meet? the 3 classes' deck areas were separated by a pretty good distance!
-
on the stern. Rose was gonna commit suicide and Jack changed her mind. then saved her from falling and was almost arrested.

WHAT WAS SHE DOING ON THE STERN?! THAT WAS STRICTLY A 3RD CLASS AREA! 1ST CLASS GOT THE MIDDLE OF THE BOAT DECK AND THE PROMINADES! IT WAS 3RD CLASS THAT GOT THE BOW AND THE STERN! SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT IN TRYING TO GET ALL THE WAY BACK THERE!
-
No need to shout.. and err... again.. it's a movie.. you know.. Hollywood.. Fiction.. ::)
-
lol, sorry.
I just love to bash that movie out of everything it's worth!
-
it's a good movie. and it gives you a good idea what happened to the ship. not what happened on board. but Molly Brown and John Jacob Astor were real people. so were a lot of others.

You mean Margret Brown.
-
no. the "Unsinkable" Molly Brown ::) she was called that because she was like the captain of one of the lifeboats.

But her real name wasn't Molly! It was Margret!

im looking every where to rent or buy that movie i cant find it :-\
-
I saw these guys on youtube do this rofl commentary of the Titanic movie....
WTH? To get to the stern, she ran from the 1st class area, through the SECOND CLASS prominade, through where the gate separating the 2nd and 3rd class deck areas SHOULD HAVE BEEN, then through the 3rd class area!
Wouldn't someone from White Star Line have caught her by then? I mean, she was passing through the deck areas of ALL 3 CLASSES!

A movie is not an accurate historical document or a realistic interpretation of real events. ;)

A movie is not an accurate historical document or a realistic interpretation of real events. ;)
I'm okay with the fictional characters....
I'd just like a movie based on a historical event to have a bit more research done on the event that the movie is about....
-
That's not what Hollywood is about..
If they only displayed the historical accurate stuff, then the movie would be 3/4 boring..
That's why they insert a romantic story and polish that up a lot more too, to appeal to more people..
And in that context, it doesn't matter if they walk through several different sections of a ship that they normally might or might not walk through.. That's irrelevant.
The general public does not look at such a movie like that.. What you are doing is similar to a typical guy sitting behind you in the movie theatre watching some outrageous sci-fi movie yelling "oooh! that would never work in real life!!!" Of course not.. it's a movie! It's there to make money, and 99% of that money comes out of the pockets of people that hardly know the real events anyway.
They have their research, cause the producers have the internet too y'know.. ;)
But too much reality often makes a movie less interesting, so they cross a few irrelevant boundaries to make it more appealing to the general public. That's pretty much common knowledge, so I wouldn't get worked up about it if I were you.. There has never been a movie made that got it all right.. and there never will. ;D

Fred

-
yes but in 1912 being on the largest ship ever would be thrilling to them
-
I saw the Britannic film today, it's ok until the ship starts sinking...
also notice how the wheel is too small
-
the water also loots rubbish
-
Does anyone have any good pictures of how the Britannic was intended? a passenger liner
-
she was turned into a hospital ship before she was finished being bulit
-
i know that but i was wondering if anyone made up a pic or image.

theres no image, I wish Vstep would modify the Titanic model to how the Britannic would have looked like as a passenger liner.
-
There are models of how she would have looked!
-
realy it is the olimpic with britannic on the back and side
