I ran ss08 with every standard met, but only 512 MB of RAM?
-
it would be average. XD
-
I assumed that you run XP?
Having half the RAM that is required might make it run very poorly, give you strange problems, and you would probably suffer from crashes and errors.
Other than that, it would run average... ::)

oh... I was expecting something like "just very laggy", or something...
-
Well that may be the case. And maybe it would not run at all. The minimum requirements are there for a reason obviously. ;D

Thats actaually the minumum many people recommend for just running windows XP alone, never mind with extra apps running.
Note i didnt say micosofts recommendation (128MB). Many pros recommend a mimimum of 512MB for the operating system to 'breathe' properly. Any less and you will see performance issues. I wouldnt even attempt to run SS2008 on only 512MB of ram. :)

Why on earth not? I do ;D
I only have 512MB of system RAM although I do have a separate graphics card that also has 512MB RAM. I would say SS08 runs average for me. I can't turn everything up, although I can add a few nice details to the graphics without too much lag.
Ohh and by the way, no crashes or lock-ups for me in shipsim. It's just every other 3D game crashes on me ::) :(

I was thinking of running ss08 on my Windows XP computer for only a short while, until my family can get enough spare money to buy the other 512 MB of RAM...

What card???!!! I have a GeForce 7600 GS...

I have a ATI X1600 PRO. It has a 500Mhz clock and 400Mhz RAM I think and it has Shader model 3.0
-
YES!!!
I contacted Dell, and they know what we need. The card will be bought when school lets out, 5 weeks from Friday.
Instead of 2 256 RAM chips, they suggest 2 512 RAM chips! I'll have 1.5 GB of Ram on an XP! ;D
