New Horizons adds new content to the game and does not fix any bugs (like a patch would). So duh you have to pay.

She has propellers ( azipods ) but you cant se them, and the can turn around 360 degrees
Here you can read about them, So Ocean Star can go sideways, allmost turn around herself funny and grate when you haw learn the controllers she don't need assistants she can bad be twin to ships alone with goes sideways.

The pod's propeller usually faces forward, as in this puller (or tractor) configuration, the propeller is more efficient. In addition, because it can rotate around its mount axis, the pod can apply its thrust force in any direction. Azimuth thrusters allow ships to be more maneuverable and enable them to travel backward nearly as easily as they can travel forward.

Actually yes, the azipods run on generators, so technically yes they run off big batterys.
