Man does this suck. All you guys are talking about how good this game is. The Youtube videos from the beta testers look absolutely amazing! Yet us in America don't have to wait until the 13th of July, but instead two more months! I'm gonna go insane. Even the demo won't be out until next month. And we can't buy it from the site since the Euro is stronger than the dollar. :'(
-
Australia and many more countries are left out too!
-
I feel sorry for myself and Captain Kool waiting till it comes out in a boxxed version in september >:(
-
Oh somehow I forgot Australia won't have it until September either. Now you know how I (we) feel. Two months is like an eternity. Even worse, I won't even be in the States in September, I'll be roaming the world in a university ship that goes to places where the currency is stronger than the dollar once again. I can't have this game until December unless they find a publisher very quickly!

Hi,
Yes I agree.. it's sad that such a great simulator/game could lose such reputaion just because the publisers (VStep) will release the game much later, which I don't understand.
On July 13 the UK get their english version and is released in UK retailers on July 17, anyway what I don't understand is that the UK has the same langauge as the US, Australia and many more english speaking countries so how come the UK get their copies 3/4 months prior to USA and Australia.
Couldn't the publishers in the UK export the english UK game to the US and Australia and many other english countries? It would save us all some great grief.

True true, but there is probably a lot more behind deals than we understand. I could care less about having to download patches later on, I just want the game before summer is over.
-
Yes I forgot, It is easy to export the game to these countries, however these cases need to go to a retailer first and that is were the slack in the string is. :-\
I think VStep should consider contating Gaming stores is other international countries like the US and Australia. Gaming stores like EB Games and Harvey Norman. Hell, just to get the game on international shelves I wouldn't care if I had to get the game from normal retail stores like Big W, Target or K-Mart. >:(

You can buy it from the site -- your credit card will simply pay the amount in euros and charge you the dollar equivalent!

I completely understand since this game looks like it is 10x better than 06; it should be worth $50. But I am adamant on a boxed version and don't think I should have to pay in Euros. The whole point is just how it takes 2 more months for overseas, which is kind of unheard of.
-
I would rather buy it in euros since i want the game so bad (which i did) it would be the same price in american currency either way. and it still is in english.
-
We are manufacturing the boxed game right now. It will be ready for shipment in 2 weeks. We will start taking pre-orders next week from anywhere in the world incl. North America.
The reason why the game will appear later in US stores is that we hevan't found a US publisher yet.
So if anybody has good contacts with suitable publishers let me know.
Also let me know suitable retail stores, maybe we can deliver to them directly.
Thanks!

Well that is great news. It is just hard to wait when 08 isn't like an addition of 06, but instead like a whole new revolutionary game that has so much more to offer.
As far as publishers go, I don't know exactly what goes into a deal. All I can tell you is that the majority of the big simulation games are published and developed by the same company (The Sims, Flight Simulator, etc.) However, Atari and THQ are two big publishers who have some simulation games to their name.
Now retail stores I can handle. Here on the East coast of the U.S., the only two places we shop are EBgames/Gamestop (which are essentially the same company and only handle video games) or Wal-Marts.
-
In Aust you should try and get it into EB Games and GameWizard.
-
Also in Australia we have Harvey Norman (Which I think is in the US also) Anyways I purchase Ship Simulator 2006 from Harvey Norman so if they released your first product (SS06) Then why not your second (SS08)
Pjotr I would recommend contacting Harvey Norman as they sold Ship Simulator 2006 and I would honestly think that they would sell Ship Simulator 2008 with out hesitation.
Pjotr if you like more info feel free to PM me with any questions about other stores here in Australia

I'm sorry, but for once I'm glad to see the shoe on the other foot. The UK and the rest of Europe get penalised for every other game. Japan and the US get everything first - e.g. all other games, consoles (ie. PS3, Wii etc) first, so I for one, and glad to see that Europe got something first for once.
-
I kind of forgot about the consoles and their respective games, sorry. But at least now you know how we feel, especially with some of us considering the game is the game of the century.
