Greetings,
This project was the former "Emma maersk",but because the policy of the maersk-company.It was not allowed to use the name of this company,at all times.
This is the result, which came out very good.

Al comments and updates, about this project,here.Please.

Absolutely fantastic work. I am very - very pleased. I think we should use one of these liveries for both safeties sake and they are honestly better looking than the Maersk livery.

The Rex Cargo Livery has my vote . . .  ;D

Marc - Thank you for getting all of these project threads taken care of. I really do appreciate it.

I Work for a big company who has also containers, maybe it's possible to get allowmence to put there company name in the game !?  ;D But first i wanna know if the moddelers would be prepared to put our company name on the containers.  :)

I do not see that being an issue. What is the name of your company and would you talk to them for us on the behalf of the NVDG?
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: Mugen. on May 10, 2007, 10:42:15
Too bad they would not give me a confirmation  :-\ I thought it would be great to steer a huge vessel with some containers on it with the company name on it.

Maybe you could also try it without saying my name, Company name is 'Nijhof-Wassink'

Please note that these are copywrited for VirtualShips. ;)

Interesting you say a simpler bridge for Ship Simulator - I was always under the assumption that Virtual Ship was not as good with graphics . . . Am I mistaken? Nice work, nonetheless. I cannot wait to see updates.

Did I confuse the name or are they two different games?

No but the boat is also being made for Virtual Sailor aswell as Ship Simulator. ;)

The vessel looks quite good - just add a few boxes on top and it would be great for the sim. But such a vessel needs suitable towage and there is no powerful tug to see until now. :'(

Cheers

This is one nice vessel. Also a long one to. :)
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.

VStep I think is releasing a more powerful tug in the game. However, whether this is true or not, it would still be nice to see a vessel such as this in SS.
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: Eemspoort on May 15, 2007, 14:06:18
Yes indeed, that would be nice! If VStep could extend the harbours to it's real size, it could dock in the propper harbours, like the Europa-harbour in Rotterdam-Maasvlakte.
Offcourse, like the Berge Stahl, these vessels need good, strong Voith-Schneider tug's.

And offcourse some nice bridge-cranes to (un)load them! :o

I agree, Maybe harbours like Miami F.L. or others
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: Eemspoort on May 15, 2007, 23:10:41
Offcourse there are much more harbours who handle large containers vessels.
I only suggested Rotterdam, because it's allready in the game. But an extension of New York and Hamburg would be nice to, and additional harbours like Miami, Hong Kong, Singapore and so on would be very nice too.

To bad you have to choose a little bit from all those harbours. But the game would get to darn big, if they put them all, in! ;) ;D
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: rvm3192 on May 15, 2007, 23:20:53
I know, that was also just en example, there are many more harbours around the world and I do agree that they can extend New York and Rotterdam to fit the ships

Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: AriesDW on May 23, 2007, 18:26:24
It is beautiful. However, i must warn you, do not make the model too complex for the average computer - otherwise we will all get a sea of complaints regarding the vessel and the game will just bog down when the ship is present n both single player and multiplayer modes.
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: rvm3192 on May 24, 2007, 04:08:37
well i think if anyone here has the averadge computer tis me. :D And I think it should be able to handle it. And just becuase virtual sailor already has a vessel like this dosen't mean that shipsim shouldn't take it and put in a better one. And I would rather have shipsim over virtual sailor even if it crashes more often.
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: AriesDW on May 25, 2007, 08:48:23
It’s already complex and have about 80.000 polygons and made for single player only and is less than the huge Titanic model containing 800.000 polygons or something like that. :)

The multiplayer level limit of 40.000 polygons would force me to simplify the model a lot and it would become very sparse. I’m not going to simplify it for multiplayer level.
So thanks for warning me, but I’m sure the “average system” (whatever that is?) will handle this container ship perfectly on single player level. Of course this needs to be tested anyway. But there is a huge difference between the 80.000 and 800.000.  ;)

My add-ons become more on the level of Titanic, and that will be the kind of add-ons I’m working with.
Other developers do what they want…. This is add-ons, not fixed part that follows the game (or add-ons would be the wrong name). ;D

Well, I am saying that we, and the NVDG, is out to work as a collaborative TEAM to work on developing vessels, "add-ons", for Ship Simulator that will work fine for everyone. Of course, if someone can play the game they need to meet minimum system specs, however, it is a good effort to insure the vessels are playable both on and offline.

Regarding Titanic - I have heard many people do not play her due to both system demands and of course she is a challange to handle.

Understand, I am not here to argue or insult you. I am telling you what I would like to see here. I am also just trying to insure add-ons are made that everyone can enjoy.
Title: Re: "Container vessel" project.Comments and Updates.
Post by: AriesDW on May 25, 2007, 08:51:36
And you are right, people can make their add-ons as they wish . . . However, there is a guideline VStep recommends for platform optomization and therefore maintaining overall a good level of playability.

Also, in the future, when one of the devs or mods, including myself, we would all appreciate it if you were not giving a sense of hostility. It is not the point of this forum and is not appreciated. We are all a team here working to one goal. So lets act like it.

Your work it very impressive.

I already stood next to the sister ship 'evelyn maersk' of the 'emma maersk'. It is pretty amasing and very impressive when you watch a a 56 mtr wide - space for 22 container rows - 11000/13000 TEU vessel.

Thanks to my college college for these nice pictures who took them when we visited the port of Bremerhaven.

JHB . . . Your attitude is a bit much, don't you think? And you should care. There are many business statutes that the devs of VS can put out . . .  You need to care. Even if it is more than a hobby. Also, you cannot sell a product with a commerical name or with certain commercial colors without permission. If the color is Pantone registered or if there are any copyright restrictions on associations or names those companies can pursue action against you.

Greetings Dave,
I think we gave JHB more than enough advice on this matter,if he has an permission to make that vessel from Mearsk,no problem!
Vstep and our group is never responsible for what he does.I also think that this matter needs to be taken care of Vstep administrators.
I do not give anymore comment on this, this is a street without an end.

Why is this message edited? A question was asked and the answer was given and additionally we were informed of the price. I do not think this is any different from posting prices of controlequipment (shipdriver etc.). The price for the model is $4 and it is up to you if you want to buy and use this product.

Over 100000 polygons for the container vessel!  :o OMG

And this doesnt lag up your system?

I am curious how this will perform in a  multiplayer environment?

Hello JHB,
So you are still working on this maersk-vessel??
Will it be in the simulator in some next editions??
This would be nice, however is it not maersk-line that did not wanted to use the company's name on any project.
Help us out.

I have sent Pjotr a PM. Hopefully he will answer it and we will see if it's possible to get her into the game. I cannot decide if she will be in the game or not this since it's VSTEP that will have the last word.

What i heard about Maersk-line,is that they never will allow the name or logo of any maersk vessel.
Thats why i asking.
I hope their can be found a sollution for this,in the future.
I also think that they (vstep),will work first on the firefighting simulator.

Give it a new skin with 'JBH LINE' written on the hull and name the vessel 'Norway'. Yes, Emma Mærsk was the inspiration but nobody can patent an inspiration.

Yeah I have actually been thinking on this to make a fleet of vessels for this game with the JHB or JB special designed logo. So I have been dreaming a little about names like:

"JB Cruises"
"JB Cargo Line"
"JB Ferries"

..and so on. :D

I think the important thing here is that we get this nice model in SS. It's already possible to chance the skins of some of the SS vessels and it may also become possible with this model. Neither the modeller or VSTEP can be held responsible if a user chooses to modify the skin.

Of course we already have a massive containership in the game, but I think there is room for one more.

What I think we will need in the furure are mid-size ships capable of entering the most common ports. They should also be able to play an important role in missions. VSTEP will definitely consider adding relevant vessels.

Agree to you both,
we are in need of some extra vessels, with the eye on the multiplayer-mode.
Otherways,we will see so much of the same vessels,in the game on the same time.
Example, you like your vessel that you've made, and i like it to.So when we choose the same area,to sail in.Most likely i will see the same vessel which you are steering. If we have 5 members, with the same idea.I think you can imagine, the scenery in that spot.
I love the idea,of the JHB-line,because you've made them, create your own logo to put on the vessel. And ready to go.
Offcource we know that Vstep has the last word in this matter, but you can try.
You have my support.

JHB,
i like them both.
However, maybe you have to change the hullcollor to.
Than maybe the bleu has to change to.Also make a color, that you can use again on other vessels,if you want to build some more.
Dont get me wrong,i'm just give you a suggestion. It's critic to,but possitive.
Very nice done allready.

1 - Do you still want this vessel in the game or did Vermaas replaced it?  I think this vessel has nicer lines then the Vermass..also the "Wheel house" on the bridge is in the centre and not on one side as is on the Vermaas and Lattidue

2 - What other facilities do you want on board beside the command bridge? Able to get to Forecastle and stern deck to assist with distances when berthing  :)

3 - Where do you want to walk on board this vessel? As above..seeing empty coridiors is not intresting!  ;D

4 - Do you want to see this in Ship Simulator 2009 or another add-on pack? Would love to see as an add on for 2008..worth paying a sensible amount for!  ;D

Al comments and updates, about this project,here.Please.

Antoher BEAUTIFUL vessel!  The more I explore this forum and the SS08 in general..I am amazed!  Would one be able to upload a vessel like this into SS08, simular to Trainsim, Flightsim, etc?  When will this be possible for release?

Sorry for all the dumb questions..but I am very new to this!

I agree with the above post..I would love to see this made available as another add-on pack for SS08!

Thanks and Best Regards,

Galen

greetings,
Yep,that's one of those lakers vessels.
They are more seen on the lakes and on the wellandcanal.
This would be a good idea,if we have those area's to in the game, specialy for our members of Canada.
Maybe intime we can have some part of that enviroment.

Wow, i come past each day about a new topic and a new vessel awaking to be released from the ship yard.I must say this container ship looks excellent and it beats any container ship in the game already, i am very excited to sail her someday, it looks like there are more buttons on the bridge to operate, new rooms, more items on the bridge and a smooth clean design ;D.Just don't forget to install the propeller system... I've seen in one of the pictures at the begging of the topic that there was no propeller at the back  ;).I see a great future for this vessel, i really do :).

This is the most beautiful ship i've ever seen on this forum. My vote is without a doubt for the Baltazar Lines variation. I will have my fingers crossed on this one. I would love to see this ship available in the future.

No you will not get it...probably never get it at all. You see... things are more complicated with this game. I will not manage to get it out and it's too complicated to continue! :(

but if you put it in the game,
let the ship have a working prop and a rudder
