Title: Creating or editing missions
Post by: james10 on July 06, 2007, 07:40:29
Hey,

Just wondering if this is possible, because otherwise there are no missions for red eagle, and where ever I start on free roam I always have to sail for about 5 minutes to get to the nearest terminal. Does anyone know how to or whether this is even possible?

Cheers,
James

There is a mission editor button but for some strange reason you cant create or edit anything.

I tried copying an allready created mission to the custom folder and then run the editor. It does show up but when you click on start it just runs the mission as normal and you cant edit it.

So looks like they forgot to add the ability to edit missions or create our own from scratch which isn't very good.

EDIT forget all above i just realised what it actually says "Custom Mission" which would mean that there will be a seperate mission creator available sometime.  ;D

Yes, the mission editor will become available for all users.

Currently only a few designated mission creators have access to the Mission editor and with their help we will try to release a few more missions every month or so.

As soon as we have made the mission editor more "usable" for the public it will be released in a free available update. I can't give you a specific date for this, but I assume it will be released in Q4 of this year.

Thanks for letting us know Mark, it is a real shame that we will have to wait till December time for a mission editor, because starting half way down the Solent in the Red Eagle is very, very annoying..

Thanks,
James

You have to be kidding? Game is great but SS2006 had this from the start. I assumed it would all be in this one plus more, I agree thats a disappointment. Especially when I click on custom missions and can't do anything then come here to find out its not even in the game yet. The only other disappointment is most of the ships from SS2006 are not in the game either. Although I do recommend it, I personally wish I would have waited to buy it because of the things I mention above. As SS2008 is now, SS2006 with the add-on is the better choice. Once the editor is released and if all the SS2006 ships become available, sure 2008 will be better but from what I see, thats going to be a while.

They wil be updated to ss08 standard ;D

But December?!!!!! Wow, long time away! But as long as we get more missions every month i think i'll be ok!

You'll get more missions. But the mission editor is much more complex, than the old one. And it's a question of time for us mission creators, we are doing this beside our main profession. Creation and testing of each mission lasts twice the time (or more) you would need to play it.

The Mission Editor will be released with proper documentation in October, not December.
New missions are added by Bottman and Steffen already.

Well thanks for letting us know anyway. When you say "New missions are added by Bottman and Steffen already" Does that mean they are avalible to download now or just new missions that are going to come with the patch. Also will there be some for the Red Eagle?

Thanks for your support,
James

Quite big, I can assure you. Big enough to be able to play the game for weeks and even then you probably haven't seen all the scenery yet.

Expect more news about upcoming features and patches within the next couple of days. Just keep an eye out on the FAQ section.

I do get an error when loading this page saying:

The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps that is because you are a moderator....

This is from the forum index page...:

I had the same problem at first. You need to check your profile and make sure you have your 2008 license key entered. Works fine now.
