They both must be FALSE but the below statement is TRUE

Here's another one...

This statement is true.
I am a Lier.

Of coarse I'm not though. ;)

Roses are violet
Oranges are pink
The sky is bright yellow
And so is my sink

Ah, Fred, don't be spammin'! ;) nah, just kidding. I agree they are both false

The two statements taken together form a contradiction, which is not to be confused with an oxymoron, which in turn is not to be confused with one of Terry’s college mates. ;D

Some of my best friends are Oxbridge morons!

Stilll, unlike UCLA, Oxford does at least rhyme with ... er, with... hang on... er, with... Oh, burgular it!

Qubit anyone?
Smallest information in normal computer is 1 or 0 (true or false), but bit used in quantum computers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_computer) (qubit), can have three positions: true, false, or both at the same time. Which I think is the case in the original post.

Terry,
I didn’t attend UCLA; I was employed by UC at UCLA and at Scripps.
Like your better half, I was educated in New Jersey.
Regards,
Marty

Best not enquire into that conundrum; remember that curiosity killed Schrödinger's Cat—or did it?

OK, Scripps rhymes with ships and chiips. You win.

In truth, Schrödinger's Cat was charming in a strangely beautiful way. Probably.

Now can we get down to the serious question of the sound of one hand clapping?

If you are a lier (not in real life) than I wouldnt trust one thing you would say. So no the statement is false. ;)

When I actually think trough this (which I usually not do) this shows the face of what's going on at plenty of discussion boards on the web every single day. It looks as it is a neutral situation where 1 part claim that the statement is false and the other that the statement is true and the 3rd part (which is me) see them both as   neutral and don't take a side which means that the "below statement" is neutral.
Then we got three statements.. (finally). What is the 4th statement? ( :D)

Now can we get down to the serious question of the sound of one hand clapping?

But does that make any sound in a forest with no one listening? Or something like that......

Do bears clap in the woods?

Why does the Enterprise flying anti-clockwise around the sun make time go backwards, and going clockwise make it go forwards? Why is the opposite way around for Captain Picard's Enterprise?

Why does the Frenchman, Picard have such an impecable Home Counties "Luvvies" accent?

And people say that we don't have meaningful conversations here.

What is the sound of one monorail running in the Arctic if a penguin can here it.
Title: Re: Extreme Conundrum
Post by: mvsmith on March 25, 2008, 00:29:42
This is obviously a trick question; penguins live in Antarctica and their hearing is not that good.

Post by: TerryRussell on March 25, 2008, 00:54:21
Or perhaps it is a very noisy Arctic monorail?

Or the penguin was on holiday?

Or quantum mechanics are fixing my automobile?

This (what you just said) is a trick question for an American.
Or the penguin was on holiday?
In America we say taking a vacation - instead of on holiday. ;D

I have alot of friends from Whales, OK  ;D

Gosh, I never knew that! That is utterly amazing.  ::) So you Yanks don't actually speak English then? Wow.

Next you'll be telling me that a "jumper" isn't a woollen "sweater". Or that a "handbag" is what I call a "purse". Ot that you spell "colour" differenty.

But that would be really stretching my credulity. Just like I wouldn't believe you if you told me you don't drive cars and that you drive your "automobiles" on the right hand side of the road. Or even worse, that you use gas for them.

FOTFGFAWL

(and before anyone starts a flame war, my wife is from New Jersey, just across from NY City. You can see her old house in Ship Sim when you go past the Jersey Sands)

Wait, Wait, - I thought of something we all have in common...  We like SHIP-SIM. :D
