Why is there also a steering wheel on the stern of the Titanic  ????
Don't answer stupid things like "to steer with" -_-".

A secondary steering position in the event of a steering gear malfunction on the bridge. They still exist on ships today though they are found in the tiller flat/steering gear compartment.
Basically it means if you are unable to steer the ship from the bridge due to a malfunction or the bridge being evacuated for some reason, crew members can man this position to steer the ship with orders coming from someone on the upperdeck.
Regards,
Andy

I think you should go down the second class stairway, then out onto the stern from there ;)
