Title: Biggest Ferry and largest fishing vessel.

Hello everyone
Doy you know that the BIGGEST car ferry and the largest fishing vessel both come from Ireland? I wasn't expecting that!
There names are Ulysess and Atlantic Dawn.

The largest car ferries ever are made in Finland, serving the Kiel-Oslo route for Color Line and are named "Color Fantasy" and "Color Magic"!!! They are about 25 000 GT larger than the ULYSSES, 20 m longer, carrying appr. 900 passengers more. Well, your are right in one fact, the Irish ferry offers more lanemeters for cars'n trucks... ;)

Some japanese fishing vessels can nearly get as large as normal dry bulk carriers, how long is that fishing vessel in the photo?

It is adaptable to catch such divers species as mackerel, horse mackerel, sardinella, pilchards, anchovies, blue whiting, silver smelt and sardines. The catch will be pumped on board and stored in refrigerated holding tanks where the catch will be held at -1 centigrade until the factory can process it. Nets for the vessel have been supplied by the Irish companies of Swan Nets and Gundrys and were custom made while a heavy duty purse seine was made by Nordsjonot AS and is 600 m long by 90 fathoms deep.

Atlantic dawn is sold to a dutch company called "parlevliet&vd Plas" and now listens to the name:
Annelies Ilena  KW174 ;)

I also been on the bridge of this ship...its enormous

Please note, the Irish Ferrys 'Biggest car ferry' The Ulysses, is only the biggest car ferry by lane meters only in other words, by the length in meters of all her vehicle lanes put together, The Stena Adventurer (which runs on the same route) is actually bigger in length than The Ulysses, as the Ulysses is 209,02m in length, while the Adventurer is 211,56 m in length. However the Ulysses has got a bigger gross tonnage, so i suppose its a matter of debate, but never the less, they are both great vessles.

wasn't the largest car ferry in the world the pride of rotterdam at some point? And why not the pride of hull? they are exactly the same

sorry, i think i made a mistake. :-[ the website i found this info on was quite old so I guess that is was the biggest car ferry(whatever it is) probably about 6-7 years ago. :-\
