Wow, it's amazing that you managed to get those shapes using SketchUp.  But as the others say, will it be compatible with what Vstep needs to put it in the game?

HOnestly, at the moment, I do not think this program will work with it. What are the file types you can export from this program?

I can save it to a a .skp (sketchup file)

Export it into a those files:

- Google Earth (*.kmz)
- Collada (*.dae)
- FBX (*.fbx)
- OBJ (*.obj)
- WRML (*.wrl)
- XSI (*.xsi)

I think if you export this as a 3D Studio Max file they can get it in the game.

SEE THE MODELING RESOURCE CENTER for how to best optimize your models for addition to the game.

J3nsen, if you can make anything ou of sketchup, then I salute your abilities. As far as I can see, sketchup serves one purpose- to fill your hard drive.

Sketchup is free. It is still too exensive, so well done indeed.

As for file format- if you prefer sketchup, then develop in it and use another free programme- blender etc- to re-save it in a correct format.

Well done for progress in sketcup anyway

The Pro program is not free :P I use Sketchup, for it's easy too use, i have tryed to learn 3dmax and blender, but i understand 1% of it :P

Not putting you down, but if you want to advance or improve in this field, you will have to get more involved with that software. If you can produce these items in sketch up, you can easily do it in the other programs.

I disagree with you Dave. I worked (self taught) professionally using Microstation (one of the most involved, yet I knew comparatively little) yet I just can not convert to the others.

I might get a copy of Cinema 4d. That was relatively OK

Remember that J3nsen is using the PRO version. I haven't seen it, maybe it's OK???

I try to make the walk mode :P You can go out from the controll rom and in from left on the pipe back, and down some stairs and you will end in a café or something, i will make something later! :)

Yes, i will make more details on the life boats :P Just not easy! :P hehe

I am not trying to be a pain - just seeing what the ship really uses b ecause I think it is best to model her with her current equipment and such.

hey,dave,can yuo please improve the attache model as mmuch as possible,im only 10 yrs old and im pruod of it but i think it needs some work,and if you do improve please re-post the attachment for ppl to download!anyway,thanks and thats the greatest sketchup model of a ship i have ever seen!if so,can you plz post it attachment for download im impressed and id like to look at everything on it.

files from sketchup are converted to ".skp" files.heres an example of a ferrie i made in likke,5 mins.
