I'm from Tennesse too...we always reserve the right to take a dump on Tennessee, but don't anyone else dare to do such. You know we fought a war over that.
What part of Tennessee was your mother from? You know that Tennessee has three regions: West, Middle and East. These are three regions seem to have their own subculture and you can further divide this between north of Intestate 40 and south of Interstate 40.

My mother was an orphan raised by a family in Rugby. She trained as an RN at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville and worked at Bellevue in NYC, where Dad met her.
During the depression, when I was a couple of years old, Mom & I went down to live with her Godmother, a retired Episcopal Nun, who lived in a little shack up the holler.
I was only there a couple of years, but I was into my freshman year in college before I lernt to qwit tawkin lik a Tenesee redneck. :)

I'm familiar with Rugby. It's a small town in East Tenn. founded by people from England. It has an English style in the buildings there. It's not too far from Pell Mell where Sgt. York was from. I live all the way across the state in Savannah, close the the Shiloh battlefield.
