Title: Elbe and Furie edition Maassluis
Post by: Vini on November 05, 2007, 21:13:37
Hello,

I was wondering, since you made the harbor of Maassluis
so beautiful is it possible to sail into it. Because when I try,
the locks won't open, doesn't matter how many times I blow
the whistle or sail into it.
So my question is: Is it possible or will it be possible to sail
into the harbor of Maassluis and to moore the Furie onto the
"Furiekade" or the "Govert van Wijn kade"?

Greetings;
                 Victor

The elbe is not a steamer, it has deasel engines.

And the furie is a steamer, but it doesn't run on coals.

Well, she ran on coals. But in 1957 they did revision, and from then on the boilers where heated by oil.
So its pretty realistic, just look at some pictures of the real ones.

Yes I agree I used to work aboard the Paddle Steamer Waverley, originally when coal fired she produced a lot of smoke but after conversion to oil burning she produced very little.

Does anyone knows how to sail into the Maassluis harbor, to pass the locks, or is it an imposibble question?

I'm sorry, shipsim doesn't have locks that work just yet... So there is no way to pass those locks.

There are some texture problems inside the ship also the steering wheele in not round ;)

There are a few things wrong with the Elbe model as they were sorted out but VSTEP were on a time limit and had to get it out for a certain date and didn't use the updated files.

I would like to get it updated sometime in the future with some other changes, mainly the texturing. They didn't want any intertior light mapping and this is why everything is so bright and doesn't look good.

Before i never had Quest 3d but now i do and i know how future vessels will look and so can make them look better.

Simon.

Here some nice close-ups of the Furie !
Pic 1: the instruments outside on the bridge (the captain in view2 can't reach these instruments, but you can use them with your walkaround-view3)
Pic 2 : On board...

You can pass the locks with the speedboat !! in my mission.
And I put a Furie inside the harbour so you can enjoy his normal habitat.

the mission is in this thread: http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,3484.0.html (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,3484.0.html)

Hi Koiboi,

In the pics above of the Furie, it looks like there is a light in the corridor. Is there a light? It would make things better if there was. :)

The light is real :)
But you can only see it when it is dark outside ofcourse.
At what time the lights go on?? No idea...
