Title: SS08 Demo works fine, the CD version doesn't - HELP! please

Help please, I tried the demo version of SS08 and it work fine, so I bourght the CD version, it appears to install correctly, however when i play the game, the VSTEP loading screen appears goes to 100% then nothing, the screen turns, black, then white and finally blue but nothing else.  The mission edito appears to work okay?
I am running Vista, any suggestions or ideas please?
When I installed it although I have a software key, the application never asked for it.
