Title: Best Keyboard/Mouse substitute?
Post by: fletcher on October 15, 2007, 00:12:07
The only ones I've seen are joysticks, which I don't really want to have to use with a boat, and professional level ship simulator gear... are there any other forms of playing without a keyboard? I guess I could use a joystick, but I don't like the joystick itself and it doesn't seem like the controls could be arranged in a very logical way. After all, they're not designed for use on a boat.

Any suggestions?

I'm currently using a combination of keyboard, mouse and joystick. Not very satisfying I have to admit. I do have a steering Wheel with pedals but haven't tried that one yet.

Yeah, I think I may just stick with keyboard and mouse and just add in a wheel, I haven't been able to find anything that makes more sense.

I tried my Firestorm Dual-Analogue II joypad (World Cup 2002 Edition :D), but I still prefer Keyboard and Mouse combination ;)

I was thinking of getting a wheel setup, but not sure yet if I will ::)

Regards.

DJM,
For a real thrill, drive the jetski at top speed in Bergen-North Sea with rudder pedals.

Greetings,
I think that i will buy,the real steeringwheel in the future, some of the members builded it for themselfs.
By steeringwheel, i mean the console with the shipstrottle, and maybe some buttons, for dropping the anchor, and put on the lights by example.
This would be great, and the game is worth it.
Regards
Marc

I wouldn't have bought the wheel just for the game as well. But I had it laying around anyway. So why not use it.
Building the controls myself? Not sure if I would be able to do that.

Greetings,
Are you willing to share the info,on what you nedd to build one for yourself. So other members can try to start on their own,if they wanted to.
I would do also,it gives you more satisfaction, when you did something yourself. And you create your own design for it.
Does this sounds like a good idea??
Regards
Marc

I think I am going to make a website about it.

When it is finnished, I will share the link with the forum.
