I'm new to Ship Simulator Extremes, so please bear with me. When I'm in Free Roaming to practice maneuvering, starting, stopping, including how to use the anchor, but here's my problem. I pull up to a dock and get my ship along the side, I try to use mooring, but it doesn't work. Is it because I'm in Free Roam and it doesn't work or it only works during a mission ???

Hi newtoship,
As you set up your Free roaming game you must click on "toggle ships on/off" as shown in my picture below. In Free roaming there are no bollards to moor to unless you do this. Once you have done it you will find a lot of bollards dotted about the environment for you to moor your ship.
Regards,
Angus.
P.S. If you register your licence key here on the forum you will get access to more information in differing boards. Once you have done this you will see the word EXTREMES below your name. it's a good idea too to say which Country you are from then the flag of your Country is also shown. Last of all, but not the least, welcome to the forum and to the Ship Simulator games.

And here I was thinking there were few mooring places in Extremes.. ;)
-
Great I didn't know that... ;D ;D
But does this work in multiplayer session too? ???
-
Sorry, no. Only in free roaming. :(

Thanks for the VERY fast reply ;D ;D ;D ;D

Traddles, thanks a lot, now I can finally moor my ship in free roam. :2thumbs:

Why has mooring been disabled in Multiplayer sessions?
-
That's a very simple answer, by adding mooring bollards into a multiplayer server you add more dynamic elements and would simply slow the game down too much to be playable

Wow!
The things you learn by just being curious. ;)

We say this at Greece too... :D

I knew the first part, never heard the second part before

Hi CC,
You are correct in what you thought, but using that button ALSO puts bollards in place in the environment you are using.

Ah fair enough,
Is their a way to keep or ticked as default as I keep forgetting and I go and make a cup of tea only to find I'm the only ship in the environment and spend another 20 minutes setting it up.
Thanks though

Why don't they just limit it to two mooring ropes per ship, then it wouldn't slow up the data hardly at all. Or they could code it so only dynamic mooring works on your own boat calculated locally. Others could moor, but only their position and speed data would be transmitted to other players.
