Title: Aditional ships in free roam
Post by: deltic9016 on July 25, 2012, 17:33:43
Is there any way of adding aditional ships in free roam, apart from deployable ships?

What environment would you like it in?

All you need to do is to make a "dummy" mission with all the ships you want. You do not need to understand the waypoint system to do this, merely how to place ships and possibly bollards, both of which are relatively easy to do. Just be sure you DO NOT hit the "Upload" button, just the "Save mission" button, then you will find your "mission" in your single missions list.

well, Maybe VStep won't get angry...
Mvsmith told me this.
Here you go
If you are familiar with the mission editor, you can examine any free roam to see how it is constructed. If you are very careful, you can even modify it to suit your needs.

However, I strongly recommend making any modified free roam into a mission instead of replacing the original.
You need to place any player ships into your Free Roam mission before you save it.

To examine a free roam, locate the folder for the desired environment in:
Vstep > ShipSimExtremes > Projects > ShipSimExtremes > Data > Environments
Copy both FreeRoam files (.xml & .EN) into your documents > ShipSimExtremes UserData > Missions.
WARNING! Do not Upload.

If you want to save the modified file as a mission, be sure to place any player or other ships first.
Change MissionProperties:
Title to be appropriate. Start Ship to a player ship. Creator: to your forum name.

The logic in a free roam is concerned with starting the AI—in Padstow there are 10 AI ships.
Be careful not to disturb the way it is set up unless you understand how it works.
The Mission Editor Notes explain how to modify the initial weather, and how to use triggers to change it during the mission.

Thanks for the info, couldnt you jist make a mission from scratch and add all the ships you want and be able to change which one you're on?

I think it's much easier to do this, so you don't have AI ships put in... I can do this, could you give me a list of ships you want in which environment?
