Title: Hovershow 2012!

On Saturday the Hovercraft Museum had its open day, and this time it was actually nice weather for a change ;D

The museum itself has been shuffled around quite a bit since the last time I went, and there were less space to look around this time too. The Princess Anne was open with her starboard passenger compartment open, as well as a lot of the vehicle deck, which had some hovercraft inside. the princess Margaret had her bow door open as well, although you could only go to the top of the ramp. The Passenger door was open although it appeared to be blocked of by cones. The Top Gear Hovercraft has was there too ;D

Post by: Rbsanford on July 23, 2012, 17:33:50: oh yeah, little one would be great! fits nicely in a car, very portable, should go very quick. instead of canoeing at five mph across the boundary waters you could soar across them with probably few emissions (although motor-craft is banned in the BWCA and Voyageurs National forest :-\)

My Dad used to work as a deck hand on the big hovers when they still ran out of Dover. We used to live in a sleepy village a couple of miles along the coast and on those windless foggy nights, I used to lay in bed and listen to distant bassy roar of those old craft approaching from France, followed by the last power-up as they climbed onto the pad in Dover Western.
