Anyone have this problem? No matter what settings I use in graphics, it never renders a wake. System specs below:
Win 7 64Bit - Service Pack 1
Latest NVidia drivers (304.79)
NVidia GeForce GTX580
Core i7 950
12GB RAM
SSD drive
STEAM copy of SSE

Thats because... SSE has no wakes... :(
-
Really? What the heck is the wake setting for? It says high, medium, low, etc?
And why do I see wakes in some screenshots and videos online? Or am I hallucinating?
-
Sorry to say TFM that SSE has got wakes for the ships. See below. I'm afraid I have no idea why you are not seeing wakes though usmchummer, your computer would indicate that it is fine for playing the game. You have a very high level graphics card there.

I tried windowed (only way I could set resolution) as well as full screen. Both had no effect.
What release of drivers are you using?

Here's the really odd part. It draws the foam...but does nothing to move the water. The water acts as if boat was never there...
-
SOLVED!!!
Its a map thing! They work in Dover, not NYC!
-
it might also pertain to speed. I've seen several large ships moving at a slower speed (for safe harbor navigation) and there was foam but no wake. it might also have to do with ship size/weight.

Sorry, it's not a map thing..NYC does have wakes..
Perhaps it would help if you delete and re-install the game..

or validate the integrity of the game cache. you said you have the steam version, right?
-
Hi,
this is an old known issue with the Steam version. There are no waves in the harbor. too bad that VSTEP has not fixed this problem. :(
