Well been a while since I have played and I decided that my new laptop should handle it better than my old one. I downloaded and installed and patched the system.
I am running a Toshiba Tecra R850 - i7-2620M CPU @ 2.7GHz 4 GB RAM
Video: AMD Radeon HD 6450M I am assuming shared memory because it says 2268MB
Any idea why this would not run when it did on my older laptop?
Symptom is that I see it initiasing but then when the full window opens it is just black, no menu and no audio is heard.
Updated video drivers and is Win7 64bit

Hello Dd ....
Welcome to the Forum.
Does your laptop have a separate (stand alone) video card ? This is a requirement to run SSE.
Please post the Dxdiag of your computer as an attachment. For instructions see this post:-

Hello Dd....
Apparently, the graphics card in your laptop does not seem suitable for SSE.
The minimum recommended HD 4850 has a rank of 67, whereas the HD 6450M in your laptop has a rank of 334. This seems to be the drawback mainly.

Well, I guess I scratch this game off than as useless. All other computers in the house are older macs and the Windows laptop is a work machine so I cant change that. It is to bad that like all other sims you can't just bring down the quality to fit. I can play Modern Warfare 3 and several other high graphic programs. Oh well, no ships for me. >:(

It's not the game which is useless, it is your PC which is useless for the game to run properly. ::)

Found that out the hard way...
