Title: missing containers
Post by: wiqvist on September 22, 2011, 22:41:20
Why is it no containers in the middle of Vermas?

In SS2008 there were less containers on the middle rows, but that was ok, cause in SS2008 you had that loading crane to play with and could put containers there, and it was not a complete hole in the middle. But now in SSE the containers of the two middle rows are completly gone. Is it a reason for that? A reson I do not realy get cause it seems realy unrealistic to sail a "full" loaded container vessel with two rows of containters completly missing. But may there is a reason for it?

Why is this so important?
And F.Y.I., it's not that the containers get all mixed up where some containers contains products for one owner, but they put it together in one row or stack. Maybe... the middle part contains very important products which have to come off first....  ::)

Havent you heard ? its crisis in the container shipping.
A lot of ships transport less and less containers ^_^

And about the stress on the ship, for all we know all the other containers you see are empty and only weigh like 5 tons.

And the loaded ones are inside the ship for balancing.

Soo, no one knows where and why there are no containers?

And, it is not an important question, just wonder why they are taken away. There can of cource be a meaning behind it, that there should come an update which will give the player the possibillity to load the ships(but that is more of a hope from my side I think).

May be some from Vstep could answer where this containers are and why they should not be on the ship?

There are empty slots due to the possibility to use the container crane in SS08. It's been discussed before with the dev's, but as you can imagine there are other things that has priority then slapping on some boxes  ;)

You can't blame it looks ugly, afterall the Vermaas is a container ship..

Perhaps they just constituted 1 polygon too many and had to go.

True, it's very common that container ships have empty slots. They can't wait untill they are fully loaded before they can depart..

For outstanders it also might be very hard to understand why a container ship is stowed that particulair way. There are many factors - Port rotation, stackweight, the stowage and segregration of dangerous goods as per IMDG code, ship stability etc.

So the crane function may will come back?

About that picture so is the not just two rows in the middle which are empty, that ship is almost totaly emty.

And container ships are not ugly, they just look as they are.

May be just a difference of opinion ...... but container ships without any containers on them can be classified under "ugly ships"  :D

When I was at sea, many moons ago, container ships began to appear on the seas. We used to call them "box boats" because all they were were floating boxes to carry boxes. Really very ugly indeed, both then and now. ::)

If one is offended by the empty space in Vermaas, one can always load & unload containers there in SSE missions, even without the container crane.

Eric can do it, I know—because he has used a similar method in a mission he created.

Soo, no one knows where and why there are no containers?

And, it is not an important question,...

To answer the first question: Wrong; some people do know why there is empty space. Others might, if they can apply some rational thought, come up with the obvious answer: To provide a place to put containers.

To the second statement: True; it is not an important question.
SSE is still evolving—the reason for certain things will be clear at the appropriate time.
