Hey guys,
Whilst the continued attacks on the cookiebox continue i've started another model to kill some time...
Its a loose copy of the island class scottish fisheries protection vessel. For those of you that don't know, the M/y steve Irwin is also a Island class SFPV, which was bound for bangladesh before SSCS bought her!
Please let me know what you all think :)

Easy one Steve Irwin! ;D
-
Points to dexter!
I've got the paintbrushes out! and i've also added some railings on the deckhouse
I'm aware of the "jagady" edged hull, thats because the model has gone from max to sketchup, with the smoothing params lost in the process, but i'm going to sort that out tomorrow.

Update!
I've added various railings and doors, oh, and some windows!
Unfortunatly i've had to cut the bridge off as I need to rebuild it in 3DS max because of issues with sketchup.
Do you guys think the hull is a little to fat?

I was working on my own version of the Steve Erwin (or it's former names). But i could find any detailed measures, so i quited. Can you tell me where you got them from?

I'm not using plans, i'm using photos and a little bit of imagination :)

As a reply to your last on-topic post:
I'm not realy shure, but yes i think it's a bit to fat. The Island class ships do lean over a lot when they take a curve, but that's what is like about them: it's a majestic sight.

gnarly model dude

danny, you named it after the legendary "crocadile hunter" ? awesome. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Any updates?

I've done some work to her, But for the moment I'm piling all my resources into kittyhawk. But don't worry, The project is not dead :)

I like it.

I like it.
Thankyou! :)

Danny, How do you model your vessels? Do you make one side the copy and paste it on the other side?
-
Dex, I normally make half the hull in 3DS, then import that into sketchup, and the rest of the "mirror" details to that side, then mirror it to make a whole. I'll then add the individual bits that can't be mirrored.
