I can understand both well enough.  :)

Although I do ask people from that country from which I need their language a translation rather than Google Translator because it mostly has the grammar of a certain language (like French) not good.

This one time I heared that a Russian truck driver got involved in a bar fight here in Holland but the problem was that he ONLY spoke Russian! So, our 'ingenious' court putted him on the google translator and the translation came out that he was talking about bits of cheese!  :o
So I don't think that when someone has a problem which he tells in a different language would like it if you were talking about bits of cheese.  ;D

Individual words ok, but they seem to mess up when it comes to grammar  ;D

Simple test .....

Go to any message in the other language boards ..... Dutch, German, French.

Use the "translate" option in Google to convert it to English.

If you can decipher the message and understand it, then you can make your own conclusions about Google Translate !!!   :D

On-line translators are OK if you want to translate from a language you don't understand to one in which you are reasonably fluent so that you can recognise grammatical errors and correct them.

It is no good if you want to translate something into a language you don't understand well enough to be able to spot the errors and put them right.

So for instance, on here, an English user could use Google translate to read something posted in the German forum, but if an English user tried to translate anything more than a very basic saying into German and post it in the German forum it would not look correct (but would usually be understandable at least)

Google Translate in Chrome...

This is the original text...

Quote

And Translated...

Quote
Less as a mate to do? On the contrary, as a mate in the pilot channel, you just busier. A good mate Captain let themselves move, keeping the list itself, the so-called 'helicopter overview. When the Captain loses itself will navigate the list and there is no one to take out the errors. That is the function of the Captain, leadership and oversight   as a boat mate his jurisdiction, may you also assume that the person can travel independently. A pilot has only an advisory role and make communication with the shore. Crews that the command of the ship over to someone who does not know the ship, are not doing very well

Paragraph has gone too...

The basic message is there, but some has to be... interpredted again

"When the Captain loses itself will navigate the list and there is no one to take out the errors"

navigate a list? Captain is a it?

That's what I was trying to say above, someone who speaks English, but not dutch, could have a fair try at making sense from the translation, but someone who speaks Dutch, but not English (are there any?), would post that thinking that it was OK.

There are a few examples on the forum where people have obviously done that and it shows, but if you don't speak English then at least it enables you to communicate on an English speaking forum.

I use it to post on Spanish websites, but my Spanish is good enough that I can edit what comes out to make it at least better, although I'm sure it's usually far from perfect.

I have translated this into French using google.

The best (proper) way to check of course is translate it into a different language and then back again to the origin language.

I know I got a slap in the face from a French hotel receptionist thanks to google not translating my comment very well...
