Title: Steam Powered... what are the advantages?

So, What are the good things about Steam?
I bought a game on Steam and it is a complete waste of money :thumbdown:

I'd say it's O.K.

Most of my games are from Steam now, mostly because it's cheaper there.

I think one of the best things about steam, is that my games that ive brought in store or through steam are on my account forever. Even if i loose the CD from a store brought game that uses steam it does not matter as i can just download it though steam again.

Personally I don't like steam...it fogs up my glasses when I'm drinking a cup of tea ::)

yeah well mixed feelings 1) cause it can take a really long time to download the game from steam (or is that only for me..) but on the other hand i dont have to keep looking for a disc

Its more than likely your internet connection speed, I usually get about 10 megabyte download speeds, and around 12 megabytes download speeds at night through Steam. Steam have very fast servers and can handle very high download speeds, providing of course you have a high speed internet connection.

well with all the opinions about steam i'd rather stick with electricity for the next SS

In some ways I like the concept of Steam, but what I don't like is how I feel reliant and dependent on it. I also like the idea of being able to 'rely' on developers or individual sites and forums for information, rather than it just being centered at Steam for the most part. I feel as though I can't independently play the game without Steam having it's input somehow; I find it more irritating than helpful :thumbdown:. But as I said earlier, I like the concept...so it's mixed feelings on the poll I think.
