I suppose the days of raw horsepower are gone :-\   Being forced to convert over to silly hybrids that are so complicated you cant do any work on them youselves

We've been having 50 odd mpg and more for a while. 2 litre engine, 6 speed gear box is good enough to hum along and hardly use any fuel

i supose i should point out that this is US related only, i'm well aware that most european countries get good fuel economy

I get around 50Mpg (thats only if I drive well :P) in my Vauxhall Corsa '05 1.3CDTi, 5 gear manual.

Also, I've been told that auto's use up more fuel than manuals, auto's being the most used in the US?

usually autos tend to use more fuel, with a standard you have more control over the engines speed, but here in the US i'd say its probaly around a 50/50 mix

I though of Hybrids, but there no good.I had a talk with a friend once and from he told me, there more like "show" cars other than work horses for everyday life.

and they're so flippin complicated you cant do any maintenace yourself or you'll void some warranty or something

Don't forget that the US gallon is smaller that an imperial gallon. There are roughly 1.2 US gallons to 1 imperial gallon.
