Title: The Earths Orbital Axis Rotation for Dover (aka My Sun set in the wrong place)
Post by: The Ferry Man on April 19, 2011, 21:34:54
OK I am on MP, and my sun is setting... On Dover...

With a course of 302'  this seems a bit very north?

Never been on a ferry crossing with the sun setting ON Dover...

Hello TFM,

Not exactly well spotted, it is a sign that you didn't cross the Strait of Dover around the summer solstice, when the sun sets at this azimuth. But then, it is around 19:30 GMT (21:30 B), and if you had a different date, it would indeed be wrong.

Regards,
Luc

To check it by yourself, you can look at WinStars 2 (http://www.winstars.net/english/download.html), a nice and easy astronomy program.  8)

Hi TFM,
If you had been in the north of Scotland it would have been even further towards the north.
