Hi all,
I was considering getting a new game or two recently, and was wondering what WWII based games you all find to be the best on PC?
Jack.

You can go for Silent Hunter Series, 3,4 or 5 depending on what you are looking for.

Hi Tore/Third Mate,
I quite like strategy games, but I'm open to most games really.

Ehm, lars. Total War is not WWII based, nor WWI. It even is clearly stated in the description:
Carefully guide your nation from the era of absolute monarchies in the early 19th century, through expansion...

The best WWII experience (at least for land-based combat) I think, is Armed Assault 2, with the Invasion '44 mod installed.

heheh you are right there fred (have the game and the mod myself)
asfar as ww2 naval warfare goes i suggest battlestations midway and pacific

:2thumbs:
Do you also happen to have played the whole series from operation flashpoint onwards? .. after all those years, finally a really nice i44 release. Sure their demo was nice back then in OFP, but now it finally feels and looks.. and not to mention sounds, the business, in ArmA2 :P
As for naval warfare also don't forget the Silent Hunter series either, in their kind they are the best. 3 and 4 at least, not 5. And there's a few nice mods making surface vessels playable too, able to fight properly with them as well, for example. And tons of mods and tweaks and addons about for both. :)
For aerial combat, the IL2 series reigns, no contest there. The new Cliffs of Dover release in that series is quite good, albeit in need of some patching, even with some updates already applied.

aah good old operation flashpoint (isnt it OPF?) well ill stick to the battlestations for surface warfare (subs inculded too)
-
Nah I wrote it like that the first weak at first, but it's in fact OFP.. but they abbreviated it as operation-flash-point instead.
I sometimes still play it, just for old time's sake. It was a real unique and revolutionary sim back when I first discovered the demo prior to release. I think I have more hours spent in that series than in my top three of other favorite games/sims series combined. :P

World of Tanks. Very fun.
