Hi Shipmate,

With that budget and if you want to get close to $ 300, go for the ATI Radeon HD HD 6970. There is no card beyond this from the Radeon stable !!

I am not aware of any Australian website but you can check out the American one called www.newegg.com just to get an idea of the cards available in your budget range. Of courses, prices may differ.

6970's are $350-$400 here.http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=193_1178

If your budget doesn't stretch you can get the 6950 and unlock it. It's easily done just google unlock 6950->6970.
The 6950 should be plenty fast enough anyway. Get the 2Gb version if you're running high resolutions (1920x1200)

Not in the same ballpark.

570 and I'd agree but they're insanely expensive down here.

Over here too.. :)
I wouldn't completely rule out the GTX470, some consider it the best under-$300 card in 2011

At around $260 it is in the same price range as the Radeon 6950..

One thing to consider when installing a new graphic card is if you will need an new PSU (Power Supply Unit)
