i have just got the game but i cant find any icebegrs in free roaming....any one who knows about this??
-
no you will have to download the patch if you want them in the game ;)
-
Use the Mission Editor to add icebergs ;).
-
but i dont want the 1.1 version because the titanic turns too much there
-
what do you mean?
-
in the patch the Titanic turns too much and too fast...
-
I now what you mean, Titanic ship of dreams.
After I installed the patch, Titanic turns like a speed boat and start to tilt.
Before the patch, people wantet Titanic to respond and turn faster, but I think this is making it more unrealistic. We are talking about a big steam ship from 1912, not a speed boat..
-
well, yu guys are never happy :(
first titanic have to be faster like SS2006 and now it is that speed and it's again not good :o
''better fast than slow''
-
t mind the speed but the "turning" its unrealistic and its not fun to play a game where you dont feel saticfied
-
Oh for **** sake, guys-look at lusitania-she turned at about 90 deg a minute. She tilted. Hell even Britannic did after she had that exstenion put on her rudder. anyway, you want to turn slower, dont turn the helm too much! Simple. ;)

I dont know how Titanic turned or tilted in real life, but I think she tilts to mutch after the patch...but maybe i'm wrong. ???
I just want it to be realistic, thats all. 8)

yes you are right

Hello,
Having made some trials of rotation of Titanic, full rudder, the speed settled to appr. 14.2 kts (some 7.30 m/s), and the rate of turn became stable at 58°/min (6 min and 20 s for a full turn), that means a tactical diameter of some 3.4 lengths, 880m.
I think having read it was 3850ft (1173m), so she turns indeed somewhat (1/3) too quickly, perhaps is it due to a rudder angle of 45° instead of 35°?
Regards,
Luc

I think that is a very good point Luc. Many ships, even modern ones do not have rudders which go to 45 degrees and of those which do many of them are blocked to lower angles depending on speed.
If a ship was travelling at full sea speed and 45 degrees of rudder were applied she would be on her beam ends.
-
If you want it to turn slower and more realistic, just give it LESS RUDDER!!! Problem solved! Full rudder deflection was probably rarely done on the real Titanic (except perhaps one instance). Why do you want to ram it "all over" and see a 15 degree per minute turn? While it may be a developer issue that full deflection gives an unrealistic turn rate, it's ultimately up to you to control your ship.

30 - 35 degrees is the most effective in real life. If you go further ( for example 45 degrees) you're just slowing down the ship instead of turning.

This topic should be called turning of ships not icebergs
spelling edit

If you had looked at the dates, you might have noticed that it is a very old topic. Why dredge it up again just to make an inane comment?

I can if i want
