Title: My computer gone screwy
Post by: matt5674 on January 23, 2011, 22:29:58
Today, my computer had updates that was important and I installed them. I restarted my computer due to some issues with SSE and an error message said Windows failed to launch and both the Esc and Enter buttons doesn't help here. I cannot even access anything at all due to this message. Do you all know how to fix this problem?

(I typed this message on the family computer, my main computer is having the problem)

I take it you can't even get to System Recovery..(setting the computer back to when things were ok)

Yes, the error won't let me advance to try fixing the problem manually, So I have to get a recovery disk that can hopefully fix the problem, but it won't arrive for about 1 1/2 weeks. :-\ So due to that problem, I will be barely online since the problem.

Have you tried restarting the PC from being switched completely off, and then tapping the F8 key as it starts up?

That should get you to the menu that allows you to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, you can access things like chkdsk, system restore and so on.

Sometimes tapping the F6 may work, but don't try tapping them both during the same start-up sequence.

Neither F6 nor F8 did anything. Whenever I am able to get access back to my computer's desktop, I'm not going to install important or optional updates since one of them started my damaged computer.

Hi Matt.

Rather than clog up the forum, do you want to talk to me via PM? I may have the solution, but not sure yet which one.
