Title: Racehorse Class RoRo Ferry
Post by: The Ferry Man on January 22, 2011, 13:47:06
OK so here is another possible CCC Mk II Entrant... a Racehorse class roro ferry

This is more in the style of the European Endeavour - it has a stern mounted loading ramp, and a cow catcher on the bow - this means it is very versatile - can work on many routes, just as the Racehorses did  ;D

But anyway pics:

I take it that the water catcher under the stern is the beginning of the Hull ::)

and i thought you were basing it on the Trader?

Hello Mr TFM... Just a quick note to say HELLO. MR TFM.

Nothing more than a friendly HELLO, MR TFM. May I enquire on your health, MR TFM...

(try reading that with a menacing voice in your head- it doesn't work too well in text, but MR TFM knows what I mean, don't you MR TFM?)

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but any update on this TFM, not sure how I missed it first time around.

The big difference between the European Trader and the other ships of this class is that the Trader was fitted for 2 deck loading whereas the others weren't.

Actually I just re-read that and I was talking nonsense, it was the old Midnight Merchant which was renamed European Endeavour which was fitted for 2 deck loading, as is the model.

As far as I am aware P&O are still running the Endeavour, the ex Brave and Dawn Merchants are being chartered by a ship management company as the Norman Bridge and Norman Trader respectively and the ex Northern Merchant is running from Palma to barcelona for Acciona Transmediterranea

And on the subject of shameless bumps how's the project going TFM?

Last I heard both the Bridge and Trader are now laid up in Falmouth  :-\

No updates for the model at the moment, but I will do some more soon :)

They may well be, thankfully I am no longer involved with the company which managed them, although they both had their problems they were nice ships and I have good memories of my time on the Ave Liepaja (Brave Merchant / Norman Bridge), wasn't so keen on my time on the Trader, but that was in Dover and channel hopping is not my thing at all.

By strange co-incidence, on my way back to the ship after a very nice cury in Palma last night I walked past the Zurburan which is the ex Northern Merchant, she looks to be in reasonably good condition.  Brought back a few good memories.  Not sure where she is running to these days, but I have seen her in Palma before so possibly on a regular run Palma - Barcelona or Palma - Valencia.

She doesn't look as nice in white as the others do in blue.
