Title: Correct speeds for the Esperanza and RWIII
Post by: oceandream on November 29, 2010, 20:31:59
after doing some searches wich is asked too do.
I noticed that no one talked about the speeds of thr RWIII and Esperanza
In real the esperanza go's 16 normally and 18 when pushing it.
In SSE she goes only 13  ??? Same goes for the RWIII.
Here list says 16, but she also goes like 13.7 knots.

Is vstep planning too fix this?

http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/about/ships/the-esperanza/
According to the Greenpeace site, the Esperanza either has a top speed of 14 or 16 knots ???

After a bit more digging it seems that the auxiliary engine is also used for low speeds & the two Sulzer V12s are only used when they need to catch up with a whaling ship.

In times with high fuel costs, Greenpeace maybe use the economic speed mode for a while... ;D
