Title: Patch 1.8 doesn't work

I am trying to update my version of Ship Sim 2008 with the Patch 1.8 that can be found on the main shipsim.com page. I've downloaded it, but every time I try to run it. It says: Error No valid installation detected and the quits. What gives? My Ship Sim 08 works fine and i've put in the activation code and everything. Some help please.

The 1.8 Patch is for ShipSim 2006. The newest Patch for Shipsim 2008 is the 1.1 and beta. The link for the beta 1.1 is in the "Technical support" forum.
