Allright.
Sailing with the P6...ran into a object, got a HUGE hole in front of the boat, 80% beneath sea level.....
erm....i'm not sinking ??? What are the ''rules'' to get a ship sinking?
Thanks
EDIT: Ok, now i did it all over again for 2 more times, finally, there is nothing left from my hull....got it sinking.
Sorry for the topic....

Similar thing happened to me with the Pride Of Rotterdam.
Slammed it head first into that bridge and then scraped along the port side, got 94 percent damage and i was going full steam ahead, the whole thing started to sink level and then it stopped sinking after the front had gone under....i was still in the bay so I guess it wastoo shallow for the whole thing to sink
-
Just get it 100 % Damage!
-
sinking sucks you fail mission if you sink whatever non essential ships you decide to stuff up
it would be nice if they would allow the pride of rotterdam to go completely under before you get 'mission failed'
i still have tonnes of other playerships left, and i get failed mission for sinking just one??? anybody know how to just sink ships without failing mission,?
-
Just get it 100 % Damage!
It's not necessary. I've sunk Fairmount Sherpa with just 88% damage.
Ciao,
Corrado
-
oh and titanic should be sinkable aswell, otherwise whats the point avoiding the ice berg?
-
i sunk pride of rotterdam with 19%, and if you want to enjoy full sinking, you have to do it in free roam,
btw you can reconize sinking by the pride of rotterdam by that knot on the front of the ship, when it's gone, your ship sinks ;D

Yeah, it seems to be that the ship only sinks when the front of the ship is heavy damaged, but not the side of the ship...I tryed it with the Fairmount Sherpa, my whole starboard was damaged, also 1 huge scratch looking thing beneath the water, but no....no sinking. Littlebit weird, but at the other and...it is true people saying: Why you need to sink? :P
-
.it is true people saying: Why you need to sink? :P
because theres no point driving carefully if nothing adverse happens to the ship when you don't, plus its fun running around on deck out running the water and seeing what its like to be on a doomed ship
-
i just dank the P&O in san fransisco, it completely goed underwater, it took more then 10 mins, first it came slow, then a bit faster, and the ship started to hang sland, very awsome!, to see the bridge, where you just steered in, dissapearing underwater ;D
-
i created this huge big mission in the middle of the atlantic, with every ship in the game, put all of the ships near icebergs,
went around smashing a few ships up, but didnt get to finish cos it kicks me out of the game for sinking a ship >:( >:( >:(
Deleted all but 3 of the long line of smileys. Maybe 3 conveys your mood well, yes? Stuart
-
i also tried to sink a ship with creating a nice mission for it, but missions are always saying ''game over'' when you sinks

I wonder what's so special about sinking your ships. I am a sailor, like a few other members here, and I DON'T like to see sinking ships :(

its good for you, when the big day arrives and its up to you to act to save the lives of 2,200 people, you will learn:
-how to yell at the ship screaming things like ''THERE WASNT ENOUGH ****ING ROOM'', or ''WHAT!! I BARELY SCRATCHED IT''
- how often, and by what numbers to lock 2nd class passengers in the lower decks
-when is it appropriate to make a monologue about the things you'll miss back on land like kittens, ice cream etc.
-when to run naked through the lower decks, fearlessly because you know nobody will see you.
these are all big things you must learn before you are ready to experience a ship sinking.
-
To tell you the truth I'm an officer on the Color Line ferry Prinsesse Ragnhild (pic below). I've been through so many emergency drills that I can do it while asleep. It's good to know that the ship got more than enough lifeboats and rafts for all the passengers and crew, I just hope that I'll never see her in a serious situation like that.
Don't think I should run naked through the lower decks, my captain would probably send me home :D

I second that having been in the situation for real wyre victory 1976 have no wish
to sink them
But if that is what they seem obsessed with each to there own

The Titanic should be able to take damage! You can just plow through everything and not get a scratch! Very unrealistic.

Maybe VSTEP did not want to model the sinking of Titanic just yet, perhaps that will be done when the patch is officially released in September :)

Hm you might be right, I kinda forgot this was just the test version of the patch haha
-
my only suggestion for the final version of the patch, would be to change the game over screen you get when you sink your ship.
should have the option to continue playing as if it were free roam, with your remaining ships. and an option to control the speed of sinking with larger ships, my pride of rotterdam goes under in just a few minutes.

hey, it's a game.. not reality

I managed to sink the Pride of Rotterdam with only 19% damage. I rammed head first into a smaller ship and it sunk. Strange how it went down by the stern after I had a head on collision

Future request, wich actually allready should have fixed with the official patch 1.1
When you sink a ship, the mission ends with the discription that the ship sunk, and you only can exit the mission or retry. >:(

What else would you like to do? Stare at the water? The game is meant to be a ship simulator, not a sink simulator. There really is no reason for us to modify those options.
-
my titanic sank! ;D
but, she stuck on the ground :'(

no, what he means is that we can not enjoy the sinking full, this message displays too soon, it would be nice if that message displayes after 10 to 15 mins, or you get the brains by yourself to exit the game, because i think you know that your ship is gone when it sank ;)

Erm...yes there is :-\
If you have more than 1 ship in the game...
And if you do have only 1 ship, you can always exit the game.
More people are complaining about this. ;)
edit: See? Thank you mr robville.
-
If you have more than one ship in the game, you still lost the mission :)
That's the whole point here, missions are meant to be completed. Once you sink a ship, your mission fails -> for a reason.
-
is there any way to delay that message wich says ''your ship sank, game over'' ?

O my...
I mean with a self created mission.
I was with the tugboat, and the watertaxi was sinking, so i connected the watertaxi with a rope.
Then i wanted to bring him to a waypoint, but this message came ''Your ship sunk'' like i can't see it for myself.
-
''Your ship sunk'' like i can't see it for myself.
just like i also wanted to say, i think we can figure it out be ourself that we are game over when our ships are sunken.
just like in freeroam, when you sank your ship, there is also no message that say's ''your ship sunk''
and after a while i restart the mission by myself, because i know i am game over.
-
My thoughts exactly, what were you hoping would happen after your ship had sunk?
