What have you been drinking today? ;D

j/k

But it's kind of funny looking at the lack of replies you seem to be more or less alone about those views on the game. Let's hope you're right though about the future.

I don't know why everyone is so upset with VSTEP, SSE is a great game and in time it well get even better! Just have some patience, imagine how hard it is to design a game like SSE

Yeah, well....they want a 5 Million Dollar simulation for the 50 that they spent...it's not going to happen.  All those features that some are raging about require millions of lines of code, and the folks who write the stuff don't work for free....that would greatly enhance the price of the game.  The ones who seem to be yelling the loudest are also seemingly the youngest.  Over my 6 decades, I've found that those with the most amount of time, have the least patience....they want it perfect, and they want it now....welcome to reality....things don't run like that.  As far as I can tell, no one at VSTEP has a magic wand or any first-hand knowledge of any incantations that can do what they want.

I'm perfectly happy with the versions performance as it's been released.  Having written a few programs in years past, I wouldn't have the nerve to do a project of this scale and release a date when it would be available...and then actually meet it.

The other side of the coin is that if VSTEP had released the kind of program they want, none of us would have the computer (or the pocket-book) to be able to run it...we'd need at least 2 or 3 in tandem to handle the requirements.  So, unless they have a CRAY hidden in their basements, I feel that all the whining and complaining is just background noise....like the sound of a car going down a road....it is to be ignored and we should focus on what is within our grasp.

Once again, myself....I like what they've done and cannot wait to see what kinds of 'real magic' they'll come up with for patches and add ons.

A hearty BRAVO for VSTEP

Jim, very nicely put!

Through all the bickering, VSTEP really has produced a good product, perhaps in time, everyone will realize that.

Good job VSTEP  :2thumbs:

I disagree with subwolf.

Sure, the game should not have been released, but it is still well worth buying. I've had a go on a colleague's computer and, despite earlier concerns, I will buy a copy (sans-steam, of course).

Subwolf, if you really, really don't like it you could always ask vstep to refund your purchase money and take the game back. They might or might not, why not ask? If you're scared, I can ask for you.

Why would I be scared? You should know my opinion about this product, and I've more or less been asking for a refund all the time. When you purchase a broken product, and repairs don't seem to happen shortly, then it's a normal and correct solution.

I don't play the game anyway, then I'll have to reinstall SS08.

In fact it would only be a fair deal, simply return my costs and I'll forget about this and just lay off my criticism here and in other related communities. Being a mariner myself I'm right in the core of potential customers.

Jesus, I'll pay you the refund myself if it will shut you up.

I used to have a strange tradition of buying something completely useless every month.. ;D
Extremes is not one of them ..

What's the hurry..?  Wait for the patch, then decide..

Maybe we could have a subwolf fund-raising campaign.. ;D

I'm sure Vstep can handle the refund. The money is not important, but I don't like feeling ripped off.

No need to discuss this any further if you don't want more negative publicity, I've sent a pm to Vstep (Frank) and we'll take it from there.

Hi Subwolf,
In order to receive an offer of a refund you need to have made yourself sufficiently obnoxious that VSTEP are willing to pay to be rid of you.
I don’t see any particular problem there, but others who have gone before may have raised the bar too high.
You should also understand that software, by its nature, is not something that you can surrender possession of in exchange for the refund. What you would surrender instead is any access to this forum, or any support, now and in the future.

Well nice to hear that I behave in here ;)

Anyway, got what I'm looking for, not necessarily a refund but it's a possible option. It first of all shows that they're not running away from responsibility, and that's good.

Besides the bugs and lack of missions the game is fine on my system, so I'll give it a chance and wait for the patch. Understand there will be some new functions as well, which sounds exciting :)

Hi Aad, I think what he asks is the name of the Company that VStep is using to send out the SSE game.

Angus.

I think it was TNT as I'm sure Frank said it was TNT who caused all the shipping delays due to problems at it's depot. :captain:
