Title: Clipping distances?

I've started to play around with some of the graphic settings to see if I can improve my FPS.  Anyone have any idea what the Clipping distances setting does?  Not covered in the manual other than just mentioning it....Thanks....

p.s.  I did change it, but didn't really notice any imprrovement/differences....

I believe it is how far you can see objects
