"there was an error loading the q3d file..."
I am now getting a new error that begins like what you see above. It pops up and the loading screen is there indefinitely.
I have tried to reinstall the game numerous times to no avail. This is one huge joke of a service provided by Vstep and Steam.

How about completely uninstalling the program from your system, do a scan for nasties on your computer, do a defrag, a reboot, and then try re-installing it? I've had programs in the past that just wouldn't install until I did this...and I do weekly maintenance of my system. You never know, it could be an out of place digit in the code or any number of 100 different things...could have been a hiccup in the installer too. It's worth a shot anyhow.

jedihomie you can register your key in your profile, and then have access to the technical support area.

Jedihomie,
There is a work around for that problem. I'm assuming you got it off steam or are using steam. If so navigate to your steam common folder and find sse. Then go to tools and there should now be three files, DirectX,PhysX and Visualstudio. Install each one of those then reboot your computer. This worked for me when all I got was an error. However now I get the language mismatch error.
Steam will tell you to come here for a solution, and Vstep is going to tell you to go to Steam so hopefully while they point fingers at each other someone is working on the problem. Steam did have similar issues when STO came out and also with CoD Moderwarfare 2 when they did an update that wasn't compatible.
Re downloading is not the answer. When Steam fixes there issue then it will be an automatic update (as long as you have that selected).
In general though it would be nice if a developer maybe made sure the game worked and that Paradox would have checked that it would work on Steam before releasing it to Steam.

Thank god I found someone else with my same problem, I thought I was the same problem. By the way I installed all the tools did all that, removed and replaced the user data folder. Done it all and am still experiencing the same problem.

Settle down! You will be able to play. Have you tried to ask for help or support on Steam forums?
-
I started a thread for it http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1419297 and am still waiting for responses. Don't open a ticket with Steam though because they deny providing support.
