Hi Robin,
Welcome to the forums!
Everything on your system seems to be capable of running SSE although your graphics card is just below the minimum required to play the game. You might just about get away with it though.
The demo is going to be released in September at some point, so you could either wait for the demo or chance it by purchasing the game.
As I said, the rest of your system is fine, but the card may or may not be able to handle the graphics to an acceptable level.
-
okedoke ;)
thx 4 the answer :)
-
You're very welcome, let us know how you get along :)
-
I have bought it, so kinda exited if it is gonna work or not...I will inform you
-
I have a slightly better graphics card than you and the game runs, but very very poorly, it´s unplayable with these fps and I think your performance will be even lower. When on open sea the game runs fine, but in harbours the fps are in the 15-18 range at most.
I wouldn´t have bought it when I were you, unless you consider upgrading your gpu soon.
-
Well, since I found this thread I might aswell ask if mine will work.
I think I can run it kinda well, but just asking that I haven't missed anything ;)
Here is my DxDiag, you'll find every info you'll need:
-
Hi FinlandUsername,
You shouldn't have too many problems although your processor could be a littl faster. The graphics card is higher than the recommended, however do you have an external graphics card or are they onboard (IE. Do you plug your monitor into the motherboard directly)?
Regards,
Adam

Onboard. (I think) :-\ There is a graphics card inside my computer. :P
-
Ohh I see. Have you disabled the onboard video and using only the external one? If you're not sure just let me know :)
-
I think I'll choose '3' - Not sure
-
Sorry? You've lost me ???
-
Sorry? You've lost me ???
;D
Wait, I lost myself too. So nothing... :P
I'm not sure about that. I haven't changed anything from my computer since I got it. :)
(Except updated graphics cards and some other things) ;)
-
Right, so you're sure that you have a external graphics card in your computer? :)
-
Well, yes I think.
So my computer will run SSE just fine.
At least it runs SS08 with all high settings and with really playable fps.
-
Hi FinlandUsername,
Well it really does depend, I have a GeForce GTX 260 and it seems to run normal games ok. I would say go ahead a try it, but at the same time don't throw pies at me should you get poor performance ;D

That doesn´t mean much, I run SS08 with all high settings and extreme doesn´t run very well at all on my rig.

For me it's just enough that I can play SSE with low-medium settings and with playable FPS.
We'll see. :)
Well, thanks for this info you gave.
*Throws pie to Spencer* ;D

We'll see how my computer handles SSE, at least when demo is released, maybe sooner. :)

well if you have the steam version it wouldnt run if you had the best friggin supercomputer int he world.

Hi there,
Not necessarily, the game has been known to run on slightly lower spec computers. It is wierd however why people who have very top spec hardware are unable to get the performance they should.
It's all about configuration, if your PC is not configured right, then the game speed will undoubtably reflect this :)
-
This shouldn't be a problem, should it ?
Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD 64 Athlon X2 6000+, 3.0Ghz
4GB DDR2 Dominator
XFX Nvidia Geforce GTS 250, 1GB, GDDR3
Haven't yet come across a game I can't max in graphics settings.
-
Hi Jimpaf,
Based on your computer you should be able to run the game fine :)

Yeah I figured, but wasen't sure, thanks :)

Hi, sorry don't want to steel your tread or something, but didn't want to start a new one either :P but anyway I have a question. I have an AMD phenom prosessor, clocked to 3.5 GHZ, 4 gb ram and my graphics card is an nVidia Geforce 9500, but I have an ATI 4770 series which I'm not using. And since I'm experiancing some lagg in SSE i'm just wondering if you guys think it would have run better with the ATI card?
-
Hello and welcome to the forums :)
The simple answer would be... just try it! ;D
-
Thx :D but I wrote wrong :P i have an ATI 5770 Radeon, so... I hope I will get a better frame rate in SSE by changing graphic card.
-
Well change it over, install the drivers and load up SSE.
Report your findings ;D
-
Will do ;)

well hello sundry and all ,just bought and installed sse and updated it and obviously on my rig the graphics crashed and required re-booting.Here is my rig....XP Prof sp3,amd athl 3200+, 2gb ram ,ati rad x1900 256mb mem.I would like to ask if I can get away with only upgrading the video card to say radeon HD5670 1gb mem as described here
http://www.thinkcomputers.org/sapphire-ati-radeon-hd-5670-1gb-video-card-review/6/
or I need something more xpensive or even a cpu upgrade?
Any assistance would be really apreciated
thanks in anticipation
-
Hi Skipper do you have a Paradox boxed version of the game which uses Steam?

Adam

@capt spenc, ahoy !, no I downloaded straight from shipsim site.Furthermore the start-up graphics flash badly and the game crashes after entering, in my case ,free roaming.I see bits and pieces of of the controls, flashing background then a white screen then after a few moments a message saying video drivers don't respond therefore resetting and then a message to re-boot.I did notice that during installation something by the name of Physx for ati was installed .What is this?
cheers

You need a new pc, this system can´t handle SSE, no matter what you do!
-
Well, I have put in the ATI card, and I went from medium quality with lagg to best quality with very very little lag ;D so I found it very odd that Ship simulator is a more of a graphic card game than a prosessor game, if u know what I mean. Like in Flight Simulator graphic card doesn't play a big role, but the cpu does, in SSE i fell that the graphic card play a bigger role :) at least thats my experience...
-
This game is very, very. very bad optimized. I cant play it on lowest details but I can play Mafia 2 on highest details.
-
HI reader562
this is not SSE that are the probleme but maybe you pc, you do not tel anything about you pc so no one can give you a ansver why you can't play it
if you tell more then we maybe can help you out.
pleace add you serial key into you forum profile http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php?action=profile and then you can get into technical support and their we can help you
post in tec support with you DxDiag

just installed ati 5770 1gb ram and though it takes long to load the game, once she loads , it's full steam ahead. Now I can finally start nit-picking the game like everyone else......but only in a constructive and non-offensive manner of course.
Ship ahoy lads!!!
