Yesturday downloaded my SSE copy! :2thumbs:
No problem whit this, neither the install!
Also gave it an hour´s play to check out the game...
The Graphics and general look of it are suprisingly good on my i5 Core 2,4Ghz, ATI HD5850, Laptop!
Started by taking the "Fairmount Shepard" for a free roam around Dover....
Working its way verry well in the H-K waives... :captain: :captain:
When taking my way into dover Port, and moring in the ferry Harbour, things though turned bad!
With engine in reverse, @ 1knt the ship slihgtly hit the key side devits, same wistheled and grind,
and, whhhhaaat? She sank on the spot! ??? ??? ???
Well, well, i thoght that was strange, but lets try some thing else.... :-\
Moving for a Campaigne mission!
Chose Nr 11 "North Atlantic Crossing" with the "Agile Solution"
Starting by unmoring, instantly the aft of the ship slided out from the berth.
maybe not that realistik...
With help of the truster, make my way out, put the throttle in full, and steam for open seas in acc to mission. Then bang, without warning, the mission automatically moves to the Pilot Boat. ??? Ok, new feature, no warning message abt moving to another ship.
Stear the Pilot Boat out of the Manhattan Berth, and give it full sped >30Knts... After 5min steaming, i reach the Agile Solution, where i´m suppose to pick up the Pilot before she steams for the Atlantic.
I Approach the Vsl, pull the throttle to neutral, slowing down, and finally reach 0 knots.... The mission aknowlidge that pilot have been collected succesfully. Then the game automatically swich back to stearing of Agile Solution...
What the hell, The pilot poat are in full spead, with its front to my midship... Full sped, and my ship at 0knots is rappidly, in good tempo, moving sideways. Hello??? Cant do nothing. It keeps slamming my side, and after some 45`jumps, the pilot boat finally eats its way along side me, and are now away.... Looking at it, its steams att full speed directly with headyng for the shore side... ??? ???. Well, well, that looked strange i thought and pulled throttle to full..... Nothings happening!... , im sinking! Im going around, dammm, im on the bottom! The pilot boat (Out of my controll, sank me) ??? ???
2 tests, 2 sinkings.... Ehhh Something wrong with the game???
(Consider my self as a experienced SS user, and real life experienced sailor)
Maybe some fine tuning needed??

Now this is weird because in some of the greenpeace missions i have accidentally collided with the unexpected turning of whaling vessels and i hardly have any damage on me!

Lol I love that bit Twistedlordi... i have accidentally collided
:doh: ::)
So does that mean you cant sink whaling vessels?
(Not that I would anyway! ::))
Maybe something to do with the legalities I suppose ???
Kind Regards
Matthew

Now i don't know if this can be called sinking, but it happend...
-
I should also note the red frame around the picture is the skype screen-sharing feature :)
-
I´ve already got 3 flying vessels ... :o
-
I see ::)
Maybe you should have just driven around that island!
-
At least the Titanic wasn't here to see this :P
-
To the topic starter: Try to take that mission with the Orient Star where you have to moor at night in Southampton.. It sank when I was still about 10 meters/30 feet away from the mooring place lol
btw, love that image with the iceberg lmao

Colliding with the quay or jetty indeed makes damage way too quickly. We are working on a solution. Also, starting some missions where the mooring lines pull the vessel against the quay or jetty leads to damage. In some cases, doing a restart helps. Improvements on this will be part of a patch, probably by the end of this week.
-
That was FAST! :D
Nice job Vstep! :2thumbs:

Glad to hear it

i agree, the damage system is far too sensative, i was trying a dover-calais with the POR, and due to the delay there is for a response from the throttle and the thrusters I hit the Fenders at dover and i sunk. Then i tried the crossing, took me an hour and 5 mins with the POR and then i got to calais, touched the queyside slightly and the ship sunk!

Thanks pjotr.
I have already downloaded v1.1 patch yesterday, and I have saved it on my PC waiting to be applied when the postman deliver my boxed SSE.
My question is, should I apply v1.1 patch immediately when I installed SSE, or wait for the new patch when it comes out by the end of this week?
Ta very much

I think that you should apply the v1.1-patch immediatly after installing. I don't know if the next patches ara cumulative, or that in you need to apply all these paches seperately. If there are many bugs and annoyances in SSE 2010, Vstep should release a servicepack which fixes all the bugs. Just like what MicroSoft does.

Thanks MokMok.
It's just as well my boxed SSE hasn't arrived yet - I would have spent all week cursing at my PC and pull off my hair in frustration! lol

I have had a big problem with the sigita whenever i come next to a pier the beams hit the pier and it sinks the boat also i have yet to find any bollards to tie up to in free roaming.

Hi Risbis30,
As Pjotr posted above; they're working on a solution for that particular problem...Its a pain, I know, but again we'll just have to sit it out unfortunately.
As far as I know, Free roaming doesn't have any mooring bollards :)
Jack.
-
ohwell thanks anyway. Can you get waypoints on free roaming because mine isnt working.
-
Yes you can. BUT, from what I read in another topic, if you enlarge the map to insert your waypoints, then minimize it, they'll dissapear (it seems).
But don't quote me on that...since I myself haven't really tried all of that...except for the Autopilot function.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this? Just to make sure i'm not telling any porkies?
Jack.

Yes, the waypoints are now used only for the autopilot. We can keep them on the chart when you minimize it so they are still there when you maximize it (for the next patch).

maybe then in the next patch can the damage system be toned down a bit so its like as it was in SS08?
-
and get bollards in free roaming
-
When does the autopilot feature make any sense?
-
Prehaps when sailing between Dover & Calias the autopilot would be useful as it means the :captain: could go and make a cuppa while doing the crossing.
-
autopilot goes away after minimising map and so do waypoints in free roam
-
every time ive turned auto pilot on it just stops my ship and doesnt do anything ???
-
Pojt - Any update on when the patch will be available to stop the unrealistic damage caused when bumping into the quay?
-
It will be a few weeks before we release a new patch. Reason is that it will fix quite a few problems and contain quite some new functionality, which all needs to be tested well before release. I know it sounds vague, but that's intentional, to avoid disappointing posts when a certain feature isn't in the patch, or when the patch appears a day or so later than planned.
-
A few weeks?
You really should release a patch pretty soon to fix the damage issue, ships sink just by touching the quay, and saved missions start with sunken player vessels if they are moored. This is a vital flaw and should be addressed immediately. The rest can wait.
When will the mission editor be released?
-
Hi Guys
Please come on its not like going to the shop and buying a bottle of milk
I am pleased that there is a patch being made for these issues is it not better to
have one patch adressing all members problems than trying to please people 1 patch
at a time confusing the programers developers as to whats been done not done.
From what I know its a very complex and demanding program fix one thing and then
something else go'es wrong because of the fix.
So V-Step have to get it right or you will all be posting again complaining the patch
is no good.
IF its 2weeks 3weeks thats good enough for me it means they are getting it right
Eric

I had a problem with the agile solution mission you mentioned i thought the pilot boat would stay with me because you have to moor it to the agile but then i turned and headed away the map is annoying because when i got to Bora Bora i barely knew where to go luckily i found my objective i anchored my ship and it switched to Cartagena Delight which wierdly had 100% damage and when i un-moored it it went straight the the bottom also NO EXHAUST SMOKE :(
-
could i be a beta (patch tester) i have a qualified system that runs on high graphics and will have time to test and report back to you

Save your mission before switching vessels, then go to main menu and reload. In the mission you mention the yacht will be okay when you reload, but you have to change vessels in a hurry before the yacht touches the pier and sinks. Isn't it wonderful ;D
There is no exhaust smoke in SSE because of perfomance issues I think, they will probably add it in a patch sooner or later.
