Note:

It takes a while to activate all the pre-orders..

So it might be 10:00am for some.. maybe even 11:00am

They can't all be put out right at 9:00am, that's just technically not feasible.

So in the hours after 9am, it should all be rolling and slowly all pre-order customers should be served!

And these times are all from a Dutch timezone, of course. CET+1

I have a question but it is not related to the download version but related to the topic.

What is the point in restricting those who bought the DVD (Retail) version of the game from playing when they get it ?
Many received the game before release (today), and they cant activate it until tomorrow, why ?

I am not saying that I can't wait, but I just don't see the point.

EDIT: This applies to many game releases, not just SSE, this is a more general question maybe a moderator can answer who knows the background to it.

It's to do with tow seperate ways of distribution/activation, if you ask me.

The paradox version requires online activation and that system will not let people on yet.

The other version is 'old fashioned' which just comes with a license key that can be used.

Onlt the people at Paradox or Vstep can answer the exact why's and whatfor's..   :-\

Because thats the date they told steam it is going to be released the 27/08/2010. And steam will not change it unless asked to by Vstep. And this could of been done afew weeks ago. I find it funny people are moaning they can't play a game that is not out yet so be grateful you have it already as there could be some who might not get it for another 2 weeks.

wouldnt it have been possible for the download itself to at least be available at 00:00 so that by the time the key arrives in the morning the download should be finished? (we dont all have speedy connections ya know :P)

Welcome to the forum, loza

That registration thing that's not yet possible on the steam versions that is just the 'system' that doesn't work yet. The download link and key come together, when you get your links.

And well, why would they go to the office at midnight and set it in motion. Don't the people at Vstep deserve a normal night's sleep like every hard working person?  ;)

They will put it in motion 'first thing in the morning' (8 hours from this post, so calculate your own times from that if you must hehe), and that just should be soon enough, I reckon.

And if your connections isn't that fast, well you simply will have to wait a little longer. That's just the way it's going to be.

Regards,
Fred
