Do you have SS06? I guess not, because after playing both it's very clear.
*Takes in a huge breath*
SS08 has vessel damage, harbour crane operation, more environments, more ships, multiplayer, free roam, an interactive ranking system, better ship dynamics, walkthrough on pretty much all ships, more realistic weather, open sea environments, in-game mooring, towing, anchoring and barge-pushing, waves ,better graphics, proper joystick and other controller support and a mission editor with tons of different events.
*gasps*
SS06 has none of the above.

For the SS08 there's alot of patch and add-on's through this forum the people can help you to find then out.
For sure you will see a big difference between SS06 and ss08.
