Title: Eurovision Song Contest
Post by: Captain Spencer on May 30, 2010, 10:45:07
Hi guys,

Did anyone watch it on television last night?

The UK did fantastic as usual  ::)  >:(

It would have been a bit better if we had backing singer who could sing in tune, and a song that didn't put europe to sleep  ::)

Sweden didn't qualify for the final :C
If Salem al Fakir would've competed instead of Anna Bergendahl we would finish top 5 for sure in the final!

The Netherlands has the all-time worst score of all European countries..
If you see the standard of the finals, that is a sobering fact.. ::)

And yet, we try it again every time. Why don't we just save us the humiliation? We have some very good musicians, much better then the 'sha la lie' disaster.  ::)

Actually the standard of the finals this year was very high. There were only about 3 awful songs throughout the competition.

One thing that will never be aired on American television (one of the few things) is Eurovision. ;D

Eurovision is too high standard, I suppose.. (no canned laughter) ;D
Does the US still use NTSC (Never The Same Colour) instead of PAL..?

I can think of a few things...

Al Quaeda TV would be a start

If we'll air The Bad Spambot Club, and the Flavor of Love, you'd be surprised how low our standards are.

On our commercial stations we get 20 minutes of advertising every hour.. ::)
Still, I guess it's worse in the States..

Unforunately so Marc. Its not about the music anymore - its all about neighbours voting for each other! All politics!

If you had said this about 2-5 years ago I would have agreed with you. However this year has been the best music yet. Most of the song's production were very good and the general standard of most of the songs was very good.

I agree that usually it is 'eurotrash' but this years really was worth watching.

not for me, I really tried to force myself to look at all of it, but I just couldn't. I do agree that some of the songs were good though, I actually quite liked the British one

Well you must have been the only one. I'm british and I didn't like the song. The backing singers were seriously out of tune and the song was dreary and boring.

Why cant this contest be turned into a global competition.I know it couldnt be shown in one day.But wouldnt it be more interesting. And maybe less political.
