There is a fire in a engine room onboard the cruise ship Deutschland.
608 people are evacuated and the fire is closed in by fire doors.
The ship is docked at Eidfjord in Norway.
You can see the ship on webcam: http://www.okapi.no/axis/ (http://www.okapi.no/axis/)

The fire is still going on,the temperature is high in the engine room and they need more resources to cool the area down

Fire still going on,to hot to do anything with it. A boat with fifi equipment is on its way to spray the ship to try and cool it down. "Smoke divers" is on the scene but I think they have to wait until they have cooled down the engine room.

I really hope the same thing doesn't happen to this vessel that happened to the SS Normandie, it would be a shame. Thanks for the information! :)

The RMS Queen Elizabeth 1 also burned and sank. she burned in Hong Kong as Seawise University. And it will be tragic if another ship burns like the Normandie and Queen Elizabeth. The Deutschland must be saved.

They have managed to extinguish the fire
I don't know if there is much damage to the ship,no persons where injured

no persons where injured
That is always good to hear, a great big lump of metal can always be replaced, someone's husband / father / son can't.

It could have been a lot worse. She could have been at sea.

She will be towed to Bergen for inspections and repairs

Good to hear that everyone was safe and sound...hopefully the damage won't be too substantial either.
