Does anybody know the equivalent power of a ati radeon 9600 pro to a newer ati radeon graphics card?

Equivalent performance or power consuming?

Hi all,
It appears that the ATI Radeon was released in 2003. It is quite old for a graphics card and appears to be an AGP card. The modern cards are PCIe ones. This alone would probably make a big difference in performance.
If you have an AGP slot to put it in then, maybe, it would be an idea to upgrade your computer so that you could use the newer and faster PCIe type cards.
If it is power consumption that you want to compare then you would have to be more specific about what you want to compare it to.
I think that I read in one of the reviews that the 9600 Pro does not have a seperate power supply socket, (it takes any power that it uses from the AGP interface), if that is the case then I would say that that the power consumption on a 9600 Pro is lower than the more modern products as most of them have a power supply plugged into the back of the card.

As Tneves said, the PCIe cards are much better.
You are not giving us enough information to help you.
Have you upgraded your computer and now you have one with PCIe slots?
Has your present graphics card burned out and you want to upgrade it?
Is there a particular game that you want to play?
And, (by the way, my old mum used to say "I want, doesn't get". There are ways of asking questions that will give you a much better result), if you want any more specific information then go to the 'Technical support' board and post your Dxdiag and your specific problem there.

AGP-based systems are outdated, you have to buy a new motherboard with PCI-Express 16x to get something better, and the newest cards need PCI-Express 16x (2.0) :)
