Title: busy Panda
Post by: saltydog on May 02, 2010, 15:21:13
Something that puzzled me for quite a while was why sometimes, after starting up my computer, it would sound to be so busy with something for at least half an hour or so, even though nothing special was happening. My processor would be rattling away, making sounds like it was preparing for a rocket launch or something..
Last night, via Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) I discovered it was because of pavjobs.exe, an essential part of my Panda Antivirus Program..Allthough it doesn't present any big problems for me, (just occasional peaks in CPU).
Looking around on the internet I found it was a big annoyance for many users, sucking up their CPU usage for lengthy periods of time, and leading them to consider getting rid of Panda alltogether and get some other AV program..
Anyway, I discovered what the racket was..  Wonder if anyone else has this "problem".. :)

Hi jim.smith
Be careful with Microsoft security Essentials. It’s not so effective. I had installed it but someone attained to pass a Trojan and stolen my password for skype. After that I uninstalled it and installed NIS 2010, which cleaned my PC from tenths of suspicious elements that Security Essencials was not detected.

A lot of people say the 'New' Norton is good - I might give it a try when my subscription to Bullgaurd runs out. Although, I'm a little wary, since I had Norton around about 2006, and it wasn't exactly fantastic :D
