Title: Ekranoplan in Ship Simulator
Post by: Wave Music on April 28, 2010, 18:34:17
I wonder will it be possible to include ekranoplans in SS someday?   They can be related to planes as well as to ships, so it's not a crazy idea like it was with suggesting a Star Destroyer a year ago by someone.

Here I found a nice model of Russian "Orlyonok"-type ekranoplan on Turbosquid:

From the provided info there it looks like satisfying to the Guidelines at some points.

Hmm, I'm not sure about ekranoplans. I don't think they could handle larger waves and they're more like planes with small wings than a ship.

They are cool though

It could take off at waves up to 2 meters, which pretty much like hovercraft.  Speed 400 - 500 km/h.
I'd like to hear what developers would say about if it'll be possible for SS.

BTW, the game "Ports of Call 2010" has an ekranoplan.

I think it would be a interesting vessel/plane to sail in SS, I'm guessing it would take lots of concentration to steer that thing.
